AMD crash when loading into your new game or saved game (fix)
I was getting an error, with and without mods on a 6900XT. Crash right after the FMV once the loading occurs, also on existing saved games.

To resolve this issue you'll have to roll back to driver 23.12.1, the two new driver releases (as of this post) currently break Fallout 3 and NV.

Hope this helps some folks encountering the issue and like me left me scratching my head..

Cheers!

Can confirm this is true as I did everything I could do from installing on different drives, mods, third party applications, removing the ini files to force fresh ones and god knows what else thats just off the top of my head and nothing worked but this.

Much as I love Radeon cards am getting sick of needing to roll back for both new and old games to run, never remember this being an issue so much on NVIDIA cards.

Coo, gonna delete New Vegas then. What a headache, Between this constant Radeon drivel, and Bethesda absolutely destroying Skyrim AE/mods/creations, I'm going back to not having them installed LOL

It worked you are amazing :btd6thumbsup:
Fallout new vegas is DirectX9, 32 bit.

1. download dxvk-2.3 (which is currently the latest version) on github (google)

2. Open (with 7-zip.), choose 32 bit.

3. Cut/Copy and paste into Fallout New Vegas directory

The dxvk solution is ass. Some have said they made it work with further tweaking but its not worth it. Its an AMD issue. Use the bug tool to sent a report about it maybe AMD will fix it.

With Dxvk you need to run Fallout 3/Vegas in 'Windowed mode only' (fullscreen will crash or you get bad performance loss)
To get fullscreen something like Borderless gaming/Lossless Scaling will help.
A lot of jank, but if you're running Fallout 3/Vegas in 2024 you need mods to get it to run, be it Nvidia or AMD.

If you don't wanna rollback drivers you can instead just run the game in Vulkan which also fixes perfomance issues here https://youtu.be/hVf4bZnTUDs
