I give it a chance since production works with The Boys.
People give NCR a lot of credit. Using Fallout Lore https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/New_California_Republic
Their aggressive stance to expand into Mojave is more likely the reason why the NCR is in such a terrible state. Also, not counting the NCR losses to secure the location.
That opens up a lot of things: Insurrection, Less workforce, Less "money" to develop NCR territories, Political fallout, big freaking Brotherhood Of Steel airship flying in NCR's backyard.
I just assume that the Enclave (THE STRONGEST FACTION) is still alive at this timeline. At least their operative still works in the West. Maybe they have something to do with the lore in the series. The Airship and Vertibirds are too much firepower for the likes of NCR scum!
Vote me for the next Brotherhood Of Steel Elder. My name is Boink and I approve this message.
Also just based on the two main characters you can tell it's going to be a woke snoozefest.
If I hear it's at least decent and doesn't have any unbearable writing I might watch it at some point but im not much of a tv show watcher.
CONSOOOOOOOMMMMMM
yup its gonna be BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD
Look it up but it just basically means garbage for the masses.
Exaggerated and whacky lore, not made by the original devs, buggy, and more of a squad tactics game than a rpg.
Its a cool game on its own but in the context of the fallout franchise it's weird and at best people might cherrypick a bit of lore out of it or just ignore it entirely as non canon.
Indeed. Mass consumption is how the managerial class exerts their authority over us, and forces their will upon the people. Their profession is what makes mass production possible, which renders small, human scale ma and pa stuff impossible. Mass consumption exists to subsidize the machinery of mass production, which the managerial class exclusively own and control.
Prudence, common sense, probity, modesty, discretion and most other human moral values exist in opposition to the selfishness of mass consumption. Knowing this, the managerial class does everything it can to rid the populace of moral values. In case you were ever wondering why morality is seemingly under assault from every quarter.
We are being forced to exchange our souls for material comfort and satiation of appetites, so they can be powerful.
Also, while this has little to do with the trailer, but the merging of companies to work on a goal...
if you don't pay attention to what goes on in the devshop world, as you can imagine, not everyone is happy about the MS acquisition of hundreds of thousands of IP and back catalog, and thousands of dev shops now under the MS moneydaddy umbrella... and some employees have plans.
Jeff Gardiner who designed and produced more content you've played than you're even aware of from FO3 thru most TESes to 76... and Chuck Staples, who was a level designer for F:NV in his youth and was recently the design director for TOW was still at Obsidian, the way Jeff was still at Bethesda... well both left their companies after COVID, to form Something Wicked, and the first title is going to be the ultimate badass RPG we've all always wanted, apparently.
Wyrdsong, if the funding holds. I hope the funding holds! I think it will; just a few months ago they brought over some more Bethesda crew, including Will Shen (Far Harbour lead designer when Jeffy was Nuka World lead) and a ton of other stuff he's done up through Starfield... and apparently while not accused of "poaching", others on both teams left too and showed up on Wicked's payroll... hmm go figure.
I'm not one for pre-alpha hype, but my gawd, we're all thought it - what if the OG crew from Beth and Obs could do the game they wanted to, together, but today/now? Sure, it won't be Fallout, but let's be honest - we need something new anyway. Wicked, hurry the hell up and take my money!! https://somethingwickedgames.com
And regarding tactics not being canon and all, well, fallout 4 is leagues more distant from original fallout lore than tactics.
And yeah, obviously it's not a rpg. IPs are not tied to a single genre or medium
Wyrdsong looks cool but I don't hold my breath for these sorts of things, hope it's good tho.
Most of the projects have cut content due to lack of time or proper planning. Sometimes artists will make more 3d models than the coders can implement, or more levels etc... Sometimes coders will have mechanics down but artists havent catch up to them in due time (although more rare in my experience).
So if Id had to take a guess they sometimes have a vision but they lack a complete team to develop what they want and their scope is very overestimated.
