You're best off going to the modding community, of whom has a better track record of fixing Crapthesda's games BETTER than the devs can.
Try Nexus Mods website for fixes. Best one is the Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus, which is pretty much nothing but a massive patch to fix the bugs and issues that Crapthesda just never bothered themselves to look into.
what i dont get is why is is deciding to do this constant crashing to me now instead of earlier
Though I now have a bug where I've got an old quest objective constantly reappearing...(my level 48 character is probably on a corrupted save file at this point...). Meh, I suppose I can restart this one again, just as soon as I get to 50 and a few other achievements.
Perhaps ditch your entire inventory and see if the problem persists.
Could also be that your graphics card doesn't support something to do with that area. Perhaps change the settings.
I found this guy to be very helpful.

It just "optimizes" the game to my pc with a little slider that shifts between performance and pretty-ness. I got it set to pretty at the moment. Mostly works, though the mountain peaks in the background flicker a bit...
I have had a few games where having a newer PC made the game unplayable, even with so called compatibility mode.
Never did solve it, just sidestepped the issue by getting more ram. 32gb ram now. Works a whole lot better, but still think win10 uses way too much system resources.
Should be on the first page with the information about how fast your processor is.
Alternatively, if it's a new PC, could just look at the specs that it came with. It's a basic thing, knowing your ram, so it's easy to find and get help on.
Those have always been glitchy in FO3 and FNV. If those are still on then every time you fast travel, start/load a game, rest or enter a transition screen the game is likely to hang and crash. It can also corrupt an existing save.
