On steam, "verify integrity of game files" will often remove things that shouldn't be in the game folder, though that too, doesn't always remove mods.
Might have to go figure out how to remove the mod from the mod's documentation.
95 times in 100 if the menu shows fine, and clicking new games starts to work, the backwards zooming away from the moon picture video is playing, but if you abort the video or let it finish, you immediately crash, it's your W10/11 DirectX9 support (or lack thereof)
Go get DXVK, here. https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/ grab latest release. open the dxvk-###.tar.gz and go into the /dxvk-###/x32/ directory. Open a file explorer window and go to FNV, wherever you installed steam, to the steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas directory (where FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLauncher.exe are)
Drag d3d9.dll from the archive and drop it into the game folder. and see if you can run the game.
I fixed issue with https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34778/?
but glad you got it working.
ya but its happening with pure vanilla, with no mods applied, just cleaning it all out and running it vanilla. Also something is wrong since even GOG version crashes at same point.

And for clarity, it's however steam counts the time, which for some games just means time spent with the launcher open..
