As someone above said, a lot of people probably mean they like the BoS in 3, not the actual hard-line BoS. It's a bit of a vague one as there are 3 different BoS factions in the Fallout world.
Sorry, I havn't played the originals but BOS deathclaws sounds beyond awesome.
The game that has the midwestern BOS is "Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel" and unlike the first two Fallout games it is squad based. And its canon status is up in the air (Bethesda pretty much just said they were there but not which ending is canon), there were multiple endings and each one was actually diffrent in how the Midwest BOS worked after the game, two where they treat mutants the same as humans, but in one racsim is a big crime, in another they opress everyone, humans and mutants and send them to work camps. The endings are based on the karma of the player.
There are some references to them in New Vegas, I think one of the Elder's makes reference to them 'going dark'. The canon is admittedly still dubious though, but not as bad as the console BoS game.
The whole ending thing can be said about any Fallout game, as each has multiple endings.
You sound very lonely.
I think we all need to petition Bethesda to officially change the name of TES' Thieves Guild to this.
