Why are mods a pain in the ass to install?
Srsly F:NV should have a workshop. I dislike NMM.

Simple. Mods are not made for mass consumption and they come with no guarantees. They require some level of knowledge to use, just like installing custom parts into your car or personal computer. If you're not ready to accept that, then you shouldn't be modding at all.

I never had issues with modding a game until now.

if you dislike NMM why not have a look at Mod Organizer? gopher and gamer poets have some really good videos on you tube about using it

From my experience most mods are rather simple to install while others may be a pain in the ass to install. When I experience the latter I tend to look for a video of someone installing the mod in order to correctly install it.

Never had a problem with NMM. Then again, I was never particularly mod-savvy when it came to New Vegas.

There is also FOMM for modding New Vegas & 3. Also, this game will NEVER have a workshop. Stop bloody asking for one.

hey I play fonv with mods and have this to say.
nmm.
you need a account for the nexus but really worth it.http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/modmanager/

it's not hard through nmm with trial and error ... making sure your modlist is correct is a big one that causes crashes. make sure you have nv4gb(make short cut and run as administrator when you play)/nv anti crash/nvse before you start loading mods. those are essential for running a smooth modded copy of nv. install studder remover as well if your game is having studder issues in populated areas. I have over 300+ hours on nv with all these mods with 0 trouble

New Vegas is a 32 bit engine. so moding it on a 64 bit pc is going to make the game unstable. even without mods its fairly unstable on a 64 bit pc

The game itself is just unstable.

Christ.

Installing mods is the easy part. Its getting the load order right that's hard.

Using Workshop makes the easiest part easier - which is pretty pointless - and makes the hardest part impossible.

It's never gonna get a workshop. Deal with it or go without mods.

Couldn't have said it better.

Pshh. I've been installing mods manually since forever because FOMM crashes way too often to be useful, NMM and MO are too much of a hassle for me and there's no specific mod manager for Skyrim. Unzip, drop 'em in Data, tick .esp in the launcher, done. No gimmicks and button fiddling.
