Steam or GOG?
Planning on getting New Vegas since it's the same price as a big cup of coffee, but I'm not sure about whether to get it on Steam or GOG. Ultimate edition is the same price on both platforms. Are there any benefits/drawbacks to either that I should be aware of?

This is just something that I heard but apparently modding experience is more smooth on Steam, again, this is something that I just heard, hopefully someone corrects me if I'm wrong.

The GOG version is DRM-FREE.

They're pretty much identical. GOG is DRM free though. It also has the 4GB flag enabled by default, allowing the use of more RAM.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that before, and that's helpful!

I guess another pro of GOG is the 30 day refund policy. Better than Steam for sure.

Cool, I'll probably get it on GOG then. Thanks!

I got it on Steam, which also means it shows as owned here on the forums with an icon next to my name. So if the Steam forums are of any importance to you then go with Steam. If you do not care for it, but care for a DRM-free version then GOG is supposedly the better choice. I personally avoid GOG, because games can sometimes have a different version number on GOG than when published here on Steam. This difference in version number can theoretically lead to problems when modding a game, because some mods may not recognise the GOG version. I currently do not know of any such problems however and modding should be safe either way.

GoG sucks, but people pretend they're as good as Steam

Why do they suck? I've not had problems with them.

I'll just keep laughing as developers slowly remove their games you bought and paid for from your library without your consent, while my games are backed up on disk and don't require an account or launcher or internet connection to install and play

Steam.

Nexus mods are tested and programmed for the Steam version, and you really should invest some time in installing them, at least the popular ones. They fix thousands of bugs, make the game more accessible by today's standards, scale the HUD, and other things.

I ended up buying the Steam version. I didn't know Nexus tested the Steam version, that's interesting. Finished modding earlier today and it's been smooth sailing
