Essential Mods

I think we can all agree that vanilla New Vegas is kinda terrible. Not for the good parts. The story, characters, RPG elements and so on are still there, but you can't enjoy them because they're being covered up and overshadowed by all the bugs you have to face before and during them. From quests soft-locking like the infamous "Oh my Papa", to the game hard-locking itself in ways that force you to start a new playthrough.
Because of this, NV is the videogame equivalent to Ikea furniture. After you buy and download it, you always have to thoroughly mod it for it to actually be NV.
The problem is that there are a lot of mods, many of which aren't really necessary and many of which may add problems of their own.
So, to make it easier for newcomers, I wanted to ask what mods you believe are genuinely essential for the game to work. Not mods that add something new like sprint mods, or mods that just change how the game looks, but mods that are actually needed for quests to work and the game to function.
I know there are plenty of guides online, but I wanted a varied perspective on what mods you personally always use and what are universally considered necessary.

Yeah works fine for me and millions of other players so no mods are objectively required

As a first time player I have read there are quite a few bugs which can be frustrating. I went with the New Vegas Essentials[next.nexusmods.com] set of mods given I know very little and it seems to have decent votes.
