.....You do know that there are regions of the U.S. with very strong accents right?
Aside from that, why assume the Courier is originally born in the former U.S. at all? Lonesome Road makes it pretty darn clear that there is a ton of backstory to the character left untold.
A soul that can walk that road, may well have the seas part for their wanderings, just to avoid being boiled away.
