Books wear off?

There are 2 types of Books / magazines: Permanent and Temporary. Temporary books / mags give you +10 of a certain skill for 60 seconds. Permanent books will give you +3 to a certain skill permanently, or +4 if you have the Comprehension perk.

The Temporary book effects do NOT stack...

only people playing on ultra-hardcore kind of Survival with rarification mods and level cap does this matter, where you need to eat certain foods, drink certain drinks, take certain drugs, and read certain magazines just to accomplish something at 76% chance instead of 1% chance... it's just for roleplay or those first ~20 levels where you're upgrading randomly instead of focusing.

If you're truly bothered by this, you can always give them back to yourself, just look up the IDs on any wiki an player.additem <magazines> <amount>

To be fair, OP asked a question he already knows the answer to. He consumed a magazine and found out it was limited-time buff. A simple wiki search would've showed him that books and magazines are different consumables.

There's no unique or interesting content on this thread. Like the guy above you said, OP's issue is easily solved by loading a previous save, which he knows. The only way this thread can evolve is towards complaining, which will inevitably breed contention. Don't fuel that flame.
