Peace between the NCR and BoS with Hardin in charge.
So I did the Still in the Dark quest, and helped Hardin become the new elder, and now I continued with the For the Republic 2 quest, and Moore wants me to destroy the BoS. I understand that if I left McNamara in charge, the truce option would've been available, and now with Hardin in charge, it seems that I'm pretty much ♥♥♥♥ed.
BUT! I read in some forum that if I join the brotherhood, the peace option will be available again, with talking to represenative of each side, is that true?

So the guide creator says that after 3 hours of reasearch he found nothing, that means that what I saw about becoming a brotherhood member is not true? If not, I don't think that console forcing is an ideal solution, as I think I need to take responsibility of my own actions and decisions.
You can't join the BoS, I believe there may be a mod that does that, but I'm not sure what it's called. I can guarantee that with Hardin in charge there is no way in the vanilla game to get him to side with the NCR.

What do you mean I can't? There is a dialog option when you talk with Hardin about joing the BoS, he gives you a quest to kill the Van Graffs(I think), and I don't think that after I do the quest he'll just say "no", this quest is a pretty heavy thing to do.

That quest sounds like it's from a mod. From the wiki:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/For_the_Republic,_Part_2

If the player has completed Still in the Dark, stayed on good terms with the Brotherhood, and McNamara remains Elder, a truce can be signed between the Brotherhood and the NCR. Go to McNamara and tell him the NCR wants them destroyed, he will offer a truce. Return to Colonel Moore and speak to her about the offered truce. Doing so will complete the quest and begin You'll Know It When It Happens, but will earn the player minor infamy with the NCR. This method should work if the player has completed all main BoS quests as well. Note: If the player chooses to help usurp McNamara, they will be unable to broker a treaty.

Well I have no mods installed, so I'm 99% sure that you're wrong, and you can join the BoS and become an intiate(Which also grants you the ability to wear the power armor).

Well, I answered your question, if you don't want to believe me or the wiki, it's up to you. Without mods, Hardin will never accept a truce.

I said that you're wrong about joining the BoS, not the truce.
It seems that you're right about that, but I think I'll still try Hardin's quest, to see if anything changes with the truce issue.

You can join the BoS after Hardin is installed, but you probably aren't going to like the terms if you are playing as one of those lawful types. Truce with the NCR, however, will be impossible.
you can join the bos with both buttttttttttttttt only McNamara will grant the truce between BOS and NCR.
For me the truce only worked with McMarannara or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ his name is

What? Yes you can - They have a whole questline and everything. You even get power armor, if you want it that is.

Then again... I might be wrong...

You're more freelance than actually join them. like the NCR. Though as Hippie said you do become an Initiate.

That's one thing that bothers me about NV. I wish you could actually fully join factions. For example, actually become a Veteran Ranger or become a fully entitled BoS Paladin. Really just the suggestion and name are all you get, and friendly priveledges. Even though you do sorta join the BoS, you're not actually in them. :(

I feel quite the opposite. Why would these groups accept somebody they just met into their elite circles? You clearly aren't sticking around long term. You can help them out without being involved in the command structure; you're an outsider. It is like the ridiculous Elder Scrolls trope where you walk in the door and three days later you're the archmage.
