Laser or plasma rifle?

I have both and they take the same ammo type

It depends on your preference. Laser shoots faster with less damage, plasma shoots slower with more damage. My personal preference is plasma.

Laser Rifle for crit build and long range. Otherwise go for Plasma.

I prefer laser.

Plasma weapons, and the Holorifle, have slower projectiles, so there's travel time to take into account for long-distance shots.

Try a Tri-Beam Laser Rifle, its as fast as a laser rifle and as powerful if not more then a plasma rifle. Might be hard to find though or expensive to buy. I fires three laser beams at one time, but due to this, from what I can remember (its been awhile since I have played Fallout New Vegas) it eats up ammo faster than a regular laser rifle or plasma rifle.

This. Laser seems way more accurate and with fully modded laser riffle and laser commander perk you don't need anything else.

I never use Plasma or Laser so the game does not get gummed up with the Goo and Ash Pile bugs.

it does stink a little because Fallout Energy Weapons are such a huge part of the game.
