Riot Armor
I was meetiing up with aston on the high road (lonesome road) and I noticed my armor condition was low. How do I repair my riot armor? Is there a chance that it may be destoyed?

Or, Alternatively, You Could Visit Major Knight At Mojave Outpost Or Old Lady Gibson Right Beside Novac. There's Also A Perk That Allows You To Repair Items With Something Of The Same "Item Class"

It's called Jury Rigging and it requires a repair skill of 90.
and Jury Rigging is one of the most powerful perks in the game. You can reduce any medium armor with another medium armor. same for light and heavy. Same thing goes for weapons.

Unfortunately without mods the only way to repair the riot gear helmets is to use other ones, or pay for it to be repaired.

lolwhat

You use metal armor and all sorts of power armor to repair the riot gear helmets. That is assuming you have jurry rigging. Any type riot gear helmet will repair any type riot gear helmet by default (repair elite with regular, etc)

For armor, it always leads me back to Major Knight at the Mojave Outpost. Food for thought though, the T-51B Power Armor has LOADS of health so you hardly ever have to repair it. :P

Out of topic but Riot Helmet counts as Heavy Armor and an Power Armor Helmet counts as light meaning you can repair an Power Armor helmet with glasses(Jury Rigging Perk).

yup, sadly the riot helmets are the only heavy headgear so even with jury rigging they can only be repaired by other riot helmets. Still, they're not that expensive to repair at a shop, only a few thousand. Its much cheaper than repairing the armor with caps, at close to 15000 to fully repair those.

No, you can use any heavy armor.

Buy tons of super cheap metal armor from Blake/gun runners.
Put in bin.
Apply to elite riot gear helmet when necessary.

There, maximum condition guaranteed.

You need to use heavy headgear, of which only riot gear helmets count as no other headgear in the entire game is heavy.

No, you don't need to use 'heavy head gear.'

Source: 2000 hours played, and most of it spent in some kind of riot armor, because they're the coolest armors in the game.

You can repair the helmets with any 'heavy' classed armors (riot gear helmets of all types, T45 power armor, brotherhood T45 power armor, T51 power armor, brotherhood T51 power armor, metal armor, metal armor reinforced, gecko backed metal armor, gecko backed metal armor reinforced, remnant's power armor...)

You simply need the jury rigging perk to do it, but you should always have that.

Conversely, because all riot gear helmet variants are classed as 'heavy,' they can be used for jury rig repairing power armor like the remnant's armor.

Makes getting through lonesome road with full Enclave get-up much easier once you realize.

The riot gear helmet, like its improved variants, is considered "Heavy" apparel. All other helmets, even power armor helmets, are classified as "light", thus it can only be repaired with other copies of itself even with the Jury Rigging perk.

Also, jury rigging can only be used with similar items, i.e. heavy headgear can not be used to repair heavy armour, and vice versa.
