Primm Slim not the Deputy anymore?

After I haven't played this game in a while, I decided to return yet I still havent talked to the deputy of Primm in order to move on. The thing is, I made Primm Slim the Deputy and now hes standing near the Roller Coaster and acting like he's still in Vivky and Vance. When I killed him out of frustration, there was a radio alert that he was the Deputy now. What do I do?

Didnt know you could MAKE someone a deputy. Think the deputys name for me was Meyers or something.

Meyers is the deputy by default

from what i gathered his behavior doesn't change much by making him deputy. aside from primm slim moving out of the casino that is, he seems to stay in when you have the NCR covering the position. if you want the ncr, first talk the officer in west primm, then go to the mojave outpost and barter/speech the clerk who wants to know who or what you are for the record.

Not even remotely.

Beagle is the deputy when you arrive in town. You have the choice of getting Meyers out of prison and pardoned, after which he becomes the Sheriff; reprogramming Primm Slim, which is what the OP tried; or convincing the NCR to take over the town, which requires either another quest be finished or a Barter check of 20, one of the lowest in the game.

I always install the NCR; even my character who turned out to side with the Legion installed the NCR there, lol.

Edit: Come to think of it, I once installed Meyers as sheriff a long time ago.

I always go with Meyers, since I don't wanna kill him during the prison assault. :P
