JSawyer Mod
Has anyone used it, what was the experience like? Recommended mods to pair with it?

I am deciding which to do: a heavily modded install with my standard assortment of mods (project nevada + misc difficulty mods, lighting + misc atmosphere mods and quest mods, etc.) or to do a light modded install, keeping to vinilla as possible but with JSawyer's, UI and lighting mods (I hate that yellow tint, it does not add anything to the western atmosphere IMO)

I enthusiastically recommend it. It makes choices when it comes to character progression much more meaningful. Your character is much less of a master-of-all-trades. I use no other mods.

I heartily agree with Vita. JSawyer is how the game is supposed to be played, in my opinion.

For your light modded install, I recommend having YUP and JSawyer. The compatibility patch between them available on Nexus Mods is unfortunately slightly out of date. I have my own version that works with YUP 10.5 and integrates YUP's fixes with Sawyer's balancing. I can share it here if you want.

Do you know if J. Sawyer is compatible with NVEC?

Considering the massiveness of NVEC, I doubt it.

Thanks, I briefly looked at an updated fan version of JSawyer that cleans up some things (namely scripting I think, I didn't look at it long) and is supposedly compatible with a number of things. I'll check that out and open up both files in FNVedit to see what things are changed/ommitted etc.

It's made by a talented scripter but I'm not sure I agree with the direction he's taken with JSawyer Ultimate. It seems that some of Sawyer's intent has been sacrificed in the making.

In any case, it is built for compatibility, which is not likely to be as much of an issue if you're going for lightly modded.

That is what I thought, I am always weary of changes in these types of mods that differ from the original's intent. Even if they are minor at first, it is a slippery slope.

Regardless, it'll give me a reference if I decide to create my own patch. While I appreciate your offer to send me your version, I'll definitely prefer to make my own as I find editing values fun (modding is a strange hobby).

Yeah I'm like that myself. It's the reason I made my own patch in the first place instead of simply downloading miguick's, which I then updated when YUP 10.5 released.

Almost finished, I'll post my mod list when I'm done if anyone is interested.

Mostly got JSawyer's, multiple UI mods, YUP + Miguick's patch (it was updated Jan 2016) and lots of QoL/immersion improvement mods (no tutorial, delay dlc, exchange all, crafting etc. I'll ofc open up FNVedit and disable any mods that have duplicate edits with JSawyer)
