I just finished this game for the first time and I had no mods. I don't even know how to use mods to be honest. It crashed maybe 4 times total, and it those were all in Zion Valley.

The GoG version is no more stable. The only change is the exe being LAA, nothing else is fixed.

nice, my first playthrough was on the xbox 360, it always crashed within hours of play. i'm replaying it again and recommend mods that patch and allow the extra ram usage of the game. makes things easier.

You can play without mods and crashing will be minimal. However you shouldn't worry about getting a virus from modding New Vegas. Mod support is something built into the game by the developer and used by the majority of people who play Elder Scrolls / Fallout games. Mods are also almost entirely found a website called the nexus which ensures that the mods you get are virus free. If you want to see how easy and safe this game is to mod you should check out Viva New Vegas a community made guide to make it as easy as possible for new players like you to mod your game. You can stop after the Bug Fixes section and it should just be the normal game but more stable.

What other mods are you using? With the stability mods properly set up and installed, you should be at basically zero crashes.

if youre new to modding, just use vortex, it helped newcomer as best as they can, follow vivanewvegas guide, you dont need ton of mods, just essential to make your game stable, zero stutter issue and smooth feeling, alt tab feature too
