New Vegas doesn't work at all on Windows 10
I can't even start a new game without it crashing. I haven't been able to play this game since I upgraded to Windows 10! I tried the ini edits and running windowed and ultra low graphics settings compatibility mod and running NVSE and nothing worked!

Every win 10 fanboy will crucify me for this, but win 10 is a ♥♥♥♥ OS. A lot of 32 bit games struggle or dont work on it, patches and modders are the only thing that will help you. But if in doubt, try the run as admin, run game in win 7, 8.1 options.

no we wont crucify you, but its way more complicated then that, its not everything about 32 bit game issue, it also how they did program it back then. but its so few games if it was made for win7,8 they should work fine on win10

but i have also seen many xp game work on win10, so it not that simple, but they older they are bigger chance that win10 dont like them

and many steam game forum has made community fixes so,

but in basic its all depend how good the programmer made them game engine, and if they was good to see ahead in graphics options and other things.

op, have you done the anticrash thread in top of the board ?
and it dont help either that if you are nvidia user it might be a new driver also, it seem few steam user have to make a rollback to old drivers

Yes I have done everything in the anti crash thread and done the ini edits and it still doesnt work no matter what I do. I tried using legacy drivers and it doesn't work either

In my experience even Fallout 2 has less issues than New Vegas

game worked on my machine after the upgrade from win7 to win 10. all I had to do was verify game files so that the C++ and dx dlls got installed. worked after the win10 anniversary update. doesnt work now because of the nvidia driver problem - playing other games.

any error msgs in event viewer application log?

if you google search "d3d9 fallout new vegas" and follow those it should fix it, I was having the same problems as you up until 1 hr ago when I used it. Some problem with the directX compatibility or something

more here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/wiki/fixguide

(works on the game w/o mods too)

I'm having the exact same problem so you're not alone here

Having the same problem here. Worked fine on my old system, but have a new gaming rig with a clean Windows 10 install, and it crashes as soon as I try to load a save or create a new game (after the intro). Using latest NVidia drivers on a GTX 1070.

Hmmm, wonder if this has anything to do with it?

I disabled HDR, but from the sounds of it, NV crashes with or without HDR.

Windows 10 updated the shared d3d9.dll and that broke it. If you drop in an older version of d3d9.dll in the Fallout New Vegas folder, it will not crash.
