Real Life Lake Mead Is Turning Into A Pond
Stumbled upon this video showing how low the water level in Lake Mead has fallen especially in the last 20 years. Timestamp 3:00 minutes shows how much the water level has gone down from 2021 to July 2022. In a couple decades Lake Mead might only exist in FNV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCBG_aVkv4s

"Lake Mead is a reservoir formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in the Southwestern United States. It is located in the states of Nevada and Arizona, 24 mi (39 km) east of Las Vegas. It is the largest reservoir in the US in terms of water capacity. Lake Mead provides water to the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada as well as some of Mexico, providing sustenance to nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland." Turning into a pond? Don't over exaggerate, there's not nearly enough water there to be counted as a pond.

Maybe a puddle would be more accurate

Ya know, I forgot that they brought up New-Vegas to a near 1-to-1 representation of Nevada area, Tragic that Lake Mead is drying up, this weather needs to chill out.

Ikr, and the Maldives are going to be underwater tomorrow and we're all gonna die as the ozone layer evaporates in 2030.

Uh, source? While it's certainly not getting better, I really doubt it's that level of bad.

I think in a sense, he's exaggerating, to express the severity of things to date.

I'd have gone with the line;

Thread about some issue in Nevada, here we are joking around like goof balls. Sometimes this outweighs the bad, I love it.

Or

I could be sarcastic, poking fun at sensationalist assertions that will never come true.

I guess climate hysterics understand sarcasm as much as they understand actual science. Did I really have to explain this for you? lol

Oh right this

Yeah the Colorado River Basin in general is pretty much experiencing the same ♥♥♥♥ show

The short(ish) version is that 100 years ago several states in the US southwest hashed out who was getting what amount of water from the Colorado River Basin and with what priority.

There’s a whole lot of ♥♥♥♥ that was really screwy with the compact that they made, but again to keep it short, it included the over allocation of water from the Basin (more water is taken out than is replenished annually)

Basically, combine an already unsustainable water budget with decades of drought and anthropogenic climate change... you’ve got a wonderful recipe for things to go horribly wrong

Here's the wiki for the compact btw: The Colorado River Compact of 1922
