Fix for NPCs spawning with .22lr
I have Jsawyer's ultimate along with WMIM and simplified weapon retexture project -
The Varmint rifle requires 5.56 rounds but Sunny Smiles gives me .22lr at the start & npcs who spawn with the varmint rifle all carry .22lr instead of 5.56 - so this leads to them trying to punch me up instead of using the varmint rifle.
Does anyone have a fix?
I tried to make a patch on xedit but I am too retarded and impatient to figure out how to do it.

The JSawyer Ultimate mod makes the varmint use .22lr instead of 5.56, so there must be an incompatibility between those mods you've mentioned.
I don't know how to change NPC inventories but I think I know how to change the ammo a weapon uses in FNVedit.
What you need to do is find the FormID of .22lr, copy it, and paste it in the "ammo" category of the varmint rifle file, right under the "DNAM - Data" tab.
While your at it, you could do the same thing with the Ratslayer if you want that chambered in .22lr

Yeah, it has to be fixed in xEdit, iirc that's a bug with JSUE or JSUE in combination with something else.

I don't remember the specifics, but when you're looking at the record for the varmint rifle in xEdit, it's pretty obvious what you need to change - look for AmmoList or anything that shows .22 rounds and change it to the appropriate 5.56 list.

Shouldn't need to copy and paste the .22 formid- once you're looking at the varmint rifle, you should see all the mods that are changing it. Rclick one, hit copy as override into a new esp, and the click and drag all the changes you want into your new esp from whatever other mods you have loaded. You can pretty easily combine all the features you want or tweak any values you want.

Easy to fix if you want to use 5.56 ammunition family.
Just set this line "b556mmVarmintRifle" to 1 in JSU config.

I'm not using WMX though. I don't care what ammo the varmint rifle uses, because previously I had an issue where the rifle took .22lr and every bastard and their grandmother had 5.56mm so I can't win with this one.
The issue is, the rifle won't change to .22lr and stays 5.56mm and the people all carry 5.56mm so I'd rather the people carried 5.56mm to match the rifle. If it was the other way around, I'd want the rifle to be .22lr

Okay so I had drop downs to change the list to 5.56 on both the ammo list and the projectile. So I created an .esp and changed it all to 5.56mm
Thank you for the help with this, if I've screwed the game up, that's on me but I appreciate the help.

It was obvious to be fair, I think it was a confidence issue for me. I wasn't sure what to do with it, although the answer was staring at me in the face. I didn't want to mess up the game.
So I changed some drop downs, gonna run a test.

Thanks but I tried this first and it didn't make any difference.
People still carried .22lr and the rifle needed 5.56
