How to reset after installing from nexusmods?
My fallout new vegas is missing files even though I uninsatallled everything and threw out whatever mods I had like a year ago but even now when I download FNV from steam I get pink background and a message saying I am missing assets. Loading up my old save results in game crash. How do I proceed from here?

First check if some mods are still floadting around by selecting the Datafiles option in the start menu. Deselect all ESP files that arent part of the game. If theres nothing there / it doesnt work, Remove all FNV files from pc, then go to steam and select "Validate integrity of game files". Thats what i always do.

a old save may still have scripts from the old mods can't play the saves that had mods in them

basically just manually delete whole game. Find steam library files or go to library, FNV, properties, local files.

I don't recommend asking here since the trolls would make you delete a save file or everything than fixing the problems. I recommend going to Reddit/Facebook and ask there since all of the users there are genuine and not a troll.

Try making a download file for your mod folders and check which one works and ones doesn't then install all the mods that works and delete the ones that doesn't work.

As someone in a few Fallout groups on FB I would highly advised not to look for answers there as I had to stop multiple new players from downloading crap mods like Project Nevada and NVEC because of dimwits recommending those.

As for Reddit, you might get an answer but 9 times out of 10 you'll just get a non-answer or a "same issue here" response.

Corona likes recommending broken guides and broken mods, so the statement checks out.

Deleting the entire game folder, and then reinstalling fixes the corrupted files by mods, because Steam will then download the fresh, unaffected files.

Even if you uninstall and reinstall fresh with no mods, your old save files are not going to work. You can't uninstall most mods mid play through, you either gotta download all the mods you have in that old save file, or start a new game.
