for anyone with windows 10 crashing - crashing after intro
since i see multiple topics about crashing.
Anti Crash mod will solve this. i just did it myself last night. wanted to go through game again, crash after intro, every time, like a clock. you dont need regular anti crash mod, it will not solve it. you MUST install BETA5 optional file ONLY. so not full last version, but BETA5, it was updated last night. it works 100%.

if its not clear go here:
http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fnewvegas%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D53635&pUp=1

1. download first optional file ONLY (no main file needed) "BETA VERSION - NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash"
2. unrar file you downloaded, it will be called nvac.dll
3. place it in Fallout New Vegas/Data/NVSE/Plugins
4. start game now

p.s. yes, you need nvse, if you dont have it, go here:
http://nvse.silverlock.org/

1. download beta latest version
2. copy files to game directory, "fallout new vegas" folder, where the game .exe is
3. you dont have to start game via nvse .exe anymore, you can run game regulary now through steam, it will recognize it.
4. to make sure you installed nvse correctly, go to main menu, open console (tilde key), type "GetNVSEVersion", and press enter, it should say its version 5, if it does not, try this again
5. close console and thats it

I have regional fallout due to steam restrictions, so it doesn't work. Got "Launching C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas enplczu\FalloutNV.exe failed (740)" message upon starting nvse_loader.

yes, jsut download nvse from the link in my post. you can start the game normally via steam, just check with that command that nvse is installed properly. then just copy nvac.dll to that location i provided. if you dont have that folder, just create the path with folders yourself.

If this "saved your ass", you're at least 2 years obsolete and you should REALLY upgrade your operating system and your graphics drivers - it's downright irresponsible for you to even consider connecting your computer to the internet.
so its fixed now and the mod is not needed anymore? i did not play the game for like 2 years now.

Guys, like, yeah NVAC and stuff are good, but what worked like a charm for me was the Zan Autopurge mod.

like holy moly.
you do need NVSE and the Mod Configeration menu. the links to those are on the nexus page

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
