(Dead Money Spoilers) My only option is to kill Dean?
So when I first meet Dean Domino I believe I passed the Barter skill check and now when I confront him, every dialogue path seems to lead to combat. I looked around online, and it seems that the Barter skill check pretty much predestines you to kill him.

I would rather keep him alive, regardless of how much of a jerk he is. I would also rather not have to redo the entire DLC. Is there any alternative?

No, kill.

I had to check the wiki. You basically have to kiss his ass and let him be the star. As long as you don't fight with him for the limelight he turns out to be a nice guy.

I think you'd best not succeed in any barter check. Should be something on the quest wiki.

I remember keeping him alive on my 2nd deadmoney playthrough. Perhaps youtube has a vid on this.

No, you have to kill him.

Unfortunately, yes, you have to kill him. I think the Barter check is something you have to avoid, as well as be extremely nice to sensitive Dean, if you want him alive.

Don't barter check
don't flirt with him
don't order him around too much
don't say any bad thing to him even he's acting like a prick...

Yes even female courier must not use your charm to make him stay in "that" spot. I once made a mistake and must replay the whole dlc.

On second thought, maybe it's not the worst thing.

Yeah that's about right

Dean is pretty much a secondary villain in DM. When you break down what happened to Vera, it pretty much all comes down to Dean being an incredibly petty and monstrous person

Dude, this is my second time playing Dead Money, and it just hit me.
Dude pretty much tortured Vera and tried to destroy Sinclair's life simply because he thought he was better than them.
Yeah, I don't feel so bad about killing him now.

I also initially wanted a "save everyone" run of Dead Money but ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up by doing the barter check on Dean. He has really non-obvious triggers to ruin it. Oh well. Dude was horrible anyway so I don't feel bad about it all. Kinda never wanting to play that DLC ever again in my entire lifetime.

I realized that on my first run. The story there to piece together if you take your time with it. So I never felt that bad about killing him. The only way to save him is to metagame and act out of character, and he's just not worth the effort.

But I really do enjoy that DLC quite a bit. The only part I didn't like is not being able to tell Veronica details she'd find very important after.

Can't you give Veronica a certain holotape?

Dean is a jerk who you have to kill if you don't immediately give him what he wants.
mikaeliby Apr 30, 2022 @ 3:20pm
My first playthrough, I did NOT have to kill him. Kinda liked him, and it all ended up with him alive. On my last one though, I couldn´t get to that. It became ugly, and he died. And I couldn´t even remember what I did differently. So it can be done either way.
