If companions had better AI, and were maybe a bit more mass effectish, then I'd take them.
Edit. One time I had boone with me taking on some deathclaws, he was using his rifle and doing good damage and then out of nowhere and for no reason he just pulls his machete and charges the deathclaws.
Better to post this on the Fallout 3 forums.
The Lone Wanderer also doesn't go to the Mojave. They clearly meant the Courier.
Yes, absolutely, Danny and Murder are right... I meant only to use the term to mean do you prefer to be a solo courier or a courier with companions... apologies for the confusion.
It's interesting to me to see how other people approach the game itself. I have my preferred methods which kinda depend on how I am feeling when I start a playthrough. Do I wanna be the strong, silent, ammoral merc type who trusts no one or do I wanna make a "gang"...
My current playthrough is a party of 4 including my player character and three companions, a sharpshooter, a kicka** gung-ho action hero and a tech-savvy... oh, and we're all cowboys with the first three being strictly limited to wild west, cowboy style weapons (ever tried to take down a Deathclaw with a six gun??? Sheeesh...! LOL)
Cheers,
T
