Also if you've completed New Vegas, especially if it was modded, you might want to try completely uninstalling NV and then reinstalling NV and New California for a fresh start. That way you only install the mods you will use for New California which will minimize problems.
I played TTW, so I completely uninstalled absolutely everything. For some reason, MO2 can't find my FNV binary. I create a new instance and go to the default steam library folder that has the game's .exe file, not the data folder, and it just ignores it. I don't get it. It worked fine for FO4 and SkyrimSE, but FO3 and FNV won't work.
"No game identified in 'C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam?steamapps/common/Fallout New Vegas'. The directory is required to contain the game binary."
All I can offer is that Vortex works fine with FNV and New California.
I tried using Vortex before. I honestly prefer MO's format. Thanks for the help though.
Update: Okay, so I figured it out. You have to manually install it to your folder. The installer version will not pick up on the game's binary for some odd reason. Download the file with the "Archive" in the title, then use 7-zip to extract the all the files into FNV's directory. Boom, it works...or not. Let me try reinstalling everything then get back with you on this. MO2 doesn't seem to realize I have any DLCs.
UPDATE: YES, it seems to be working now. I don't know why it didn't recognize my DLC before, but it is in the plugins tab now, which it wasn't before.
The brand new MO2 profile I created (let's call it "New California") was used to install the mod. You install the mod by running the installer exe within MO2 per the instruction. Starting a new game from the new profile works correctly (i.e. with both "New California" and "New Vegas" options available when starting a new game).
If I use a different profile and turns on the "New California" mod, starting a new game will just go straight to "New Vegas" in Doc Mitchell's house.
But you're not limited to using only the "New California" profile to play the game. You can use MO2 profile management popup to copy the "New California" profile to create a new profile. Profiles created from the original "New California" profile work fine too.
