Dead money is the single worst dlc in this game.
Maybe its just me but i needed to vent about how AWFUL this dlc is- so slow- and crawly- and boring- and LONG- so much walking over ground and fighting the same boring enemies the entire way through- its to the point on most playthroughs i skip this dlc now cause i just cant- i cant be bothered- the rewards for completion are NOT worth the time invested- its to the point where i cheat and just use tcl and tgm to skip through it all now- I just cant.

There's a review section you know. We get "Dead Money bad" posts every week.

Deadmoney is ART.

Probably the best DLC character wise, and I appreciate the gameplay changes even if speakers/radios are a bit excessive at some points (also need a mod to fix ghost people perception being bugged).

If I had to pick a worst DLC I'd probably pick Lonesome road, and even then I'd still say it's an overall positive experience.

Well, out of all DLCs for 3D Fallouts... Dead Money is the best narrative-wise. It is probably the most interesting as RPG as well. It is pretty short too, around 2-3 hours long...

It's my favorite DLC and the highlight of every play through, the one I'm most excited to play. Love that ♥♥♥♥

Honest Hearts is worse than Dead Money
At least Dead Money has gameplay to keep you entertained (or frustrated)
Honest Hearts is literally just fetch-quest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the most empty and lifeless worldspace there is, a glorified walking simulator

Dead Money does have annoying mechanics though like the radio boxes being MANDATORY save/load time because you will die repeatedly until you find that damn radio

Dead Money is actually my personal favorite DLC.

It was being developed by a pretty much non-existent dev team since everyone was working on Old World Blues, which also connects to Dead Money.

Again, not mandatory. My first play through on very hard hardcore I died twice, both to holograms in the vault, none to radios. I also 100% the dlc getting all the side stuff.
The radios you can just walk back and take a look around, or at worst, throw a grenade in the general direction.

I do agree about honest hearts. If you do the only logical thing and side with Joshua, the entire dlc missions were pointless. The sad part is that Daniel's way is way more fleshed out than Joshua's way which feels like it was slapped together by a modder in a single night.

in some degree you are right. Dead Money is somekind of a divorce to standard Fallout New Vegas gameplay and story. In term of dialogue and lore it is a very good DLC, but the bridge to get that good bits (dialogue and lore) blocked by downright awful and indefensible gameplay, those who says "this DLC is an Art" only remember the good bits where they get to the story, while blissfully forgot the actual gameplay. --- perhaps it was designed to make player uncomfortable and feels bad in general, in that regards, this DLC successfully make the players feel that way, so much so they don't want to progress through the game.

In term of Loot, it HAS a very good loot: Holorifle, that gun, modded with all 3 parts + Overcharge ammo took Lanius in 3 shots or less if you got the right perks. It practically make a speech to diffuse Lanius ending a forgettable options because you simply can blast his face right off.

At least all of the character of this DLC has depths and great dialogues + responsiveness much better than the bear bulls man -- and they spoke 1000 less words compared to him (especially Christine).

If we talk about prizes-then Dead Money is worst. No good weapons, armour, only money and vending machine codes.

37 gold bars work 12k a pop. Unlimited access to weapon repair kits and super stimpacks at an extremely cheap price. Most people leave the dlc with more than 100k pre war money, worth 12 bucks a pop at 100 barter. One of the best energy weapons (holorifle).

Gives better rewards than honest hearts does and imo better than lonesome road.

Downright awful and indefensible gameplay? Lol a little dramatic there. As I said above, it's the highlight of every play through for me, specifically because of the gameplay. It is a nice change of pace from the base game where you gotta take it slow, look around and lots to explore.

im super annoyed with how poorly the levels are laid out, and how useless the markers are. also, the collar constantly beeping has gotten to me after like 2 hours of troubleshooting a bug, lol.

i absolutely love the story of dead money and the loot is pretty good, but i really wish the map was better and introduced some more diverse enemies.

its not really a challenging dlc but its long, lots of walking, and very frustrating gameplay imo. if i had to rate i'd say 7/10 because of how much i love the story and the characters!

I get that. Elijah straight up says the pip boy has become a crutch and map markers are useless - more of a commentary on games in general but especially Bethesda games. Oblivion for example can be played by someone who just follows the marker and kills whatever and beats the game without even knowing what he's doing or why. I know this cus my roommate did just that, and had no idea what the game was about or the quests, he just followed the arrow and killed and completed all the guilds and main quest.

But yeah, it was intentionally built to be maze like to throw away the reliance of the quest markers and pip boy. I get why many didn't enjoy that, but for me personally that's one of the dlcs strengths.
