New Vegas mods overwriting language and unable to screenshot 5 minutes into the game
Hello. I have installed a few mods for New Vegas, mostly weapons and some bug fixers.
I am playing the game in Italian (voice and text) and quite a lot of the VANILLA STUFF (Weapons, Ammo, NPCs and some piece of dialogue) has been re-translated into english. Because said problem ruins the experience and it's very annoying, I am asking you guys for some help. It happened on Fallout 3 too. Also, most of the time whenever I get into NV I can only screenshot the game for a few minutes before the function stops working. :winter2019sadbulb:

Don't use the built-in screenshot tool. Either use Steam or Ansel (if using an nVidia graphics card).

Regarding languages/mods, there is no way to fix that aside from translating and converting the mods yourself or finding pre-translated versions of those mods.

Modders are just regular people modding the game. Unless they are all prodigies who know multiple languages fluently, most mods are not gonna have translations for other languages. at best most mods might have one or two other languages max, but regular people don't know that many languages or have a team of linguists on staff.

I know right. I am fine with english translated mods. The problem comes when said mods TRANSLATE THE STUFF IN MY VANILLA GAME INTO ENGLISH.

Corrected the post. The problem is with the stuff in the vanilla game. I know that mods are in english and when it's available I also install their italian translations.

Yes, that's a consequence of the mods that can't be easily avoided. Anything the mod changes (intentionally or unintentionally) will be saved in the modders' language.

If you have a mod that changes, say, weapon sounds by editing all the weapons themselves, all of the weapon's various linked text will be saved in the mod to English - whether or not the mod is meant to change that or not.

Skilled modders will avoid unintentional changes, but sometimes due to the way modding works, that is going to happen. It literally cannot be avoided.

Again, ANY item, quest, whatever that is edited by a modder by default will be saved to *their* default language, as will certain other things that are linked to it.

Nothing that you can do as a user aside from fix it yourself or remake the mod.

Edit: Based on your screenshot, I'd guess it's a mod that for some reason touches every vanilla weapon record. Maybe All Weapon Sound Overhaul?

It's relatively trivial - but time consuming - to fix that yourself in xEdit.

Thank you so much for the reply. No, I am not using this mod. I have recently installed a couple of mods that change the animation for the 10mm, .45 and grenade launcher. Might be that perhaps?
-Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod
-Asurah Animation AR Reload Patches All In One
-kNVSE Animation Plugin
Will try to uninstall these mods and see how it goes. Will keep you updated :fingerscrossed:

Don't use Asurah's anything. First, the animations are just old and broken, second they BREAK all the fixes present in Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod.

Indeed, thank you so much for the advice, I uninstalled all three of the mods and now it works perfectly!

Also, very last question. What do you use to translate mods? For Fallout 3 I used a thing called "Egg Translator" or smth but I can't seem to find any valid application for NV

Generally it has to be done manually. For most cases I think xEdit will be sufficient.
