The video I posted makes for a good example of the impact of the character on FO4s combat. Within VATS I showed that it would take 3 sneak attacks to the belly to kill that deathclaw, so 9 hits max. Were the exact same thing to be done with no perks at all it would need 150+ hits, the perks account for nearly 95% of the damage caused. While being a high level means that these modifiers are pretty high, this is not even close to the extreme and a sizeable impact can be seen even at low levels.
Were you to attempt to use player skill compensate for character weaknesses then how would this be any better than the accuracy penalty and relatively modest damage gap seen in NV? This 'problem' is still there, it's just moved and i'd argue that it is now worse for player skill than it was before, plus it adds even less to the character development than it did with skills.
The changes to spread comes across as being reactionary rather than as part of a grand rethink, else we wouldn't have likely seen almost every gun have pinpoint accuracy while aiming down sights, as the guns have nought to do with character stats. Doing stuff like this has repercussions, it took a big bite out of the purpose of traditional 'sniper' weapons (though it was new suppressors that relegated them to roleplay only!).
The addition of cover is the one thing I like without question, having every fight be a Mexican stand off sucked.
Well i'll tell ya spanky, i have over 1,400 hours in F4, the graphics are better, the game play i really enjoy and the mods{if there were no mods that 1,400 would probably be a few hundred hours.} But the story and RPG stuff has been mostly cut to the bone. And the damn game is just toooooo damn easy{had to get a mod just to make it hard lol!}
I have no idea how many hours i put into FNV but it's a ton!{of course i had a hard copy that died on me before i picked it up on steam} But i pretty much love everything about FNV.
iT'S THE BEST OF THE FALLOUT SERIES PERIOD!
I looking forward to playing the new mod this weekend and can't wait for the F4 NV mod{oh man that is really looking good!}
Also NV was a rushed game, 4 had all the time and budget in the world and they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up so hard... Obsidian was rushed into releasing the game and it is still one of the best RPG's of all time. If 4 was rushed sure... but they had so much time to learn. Very disappointing, you should expect a lot more from the game.
As for graphics... no ♥♥♥♥ 4 is gonna look better, stupid comment.
The essence of a Fallout game is the atmosphere not the gun play.
for me i have playd 4 more than any other and like it best.
without mods falout 3 and vegas are buggy and boring.
flopout 76 is just bad , if i had a singleplayer and mods maby good.
FO2 alright, absolutely mental, but the first one better than New Vegas? Nah.
I might be biased though, I always get the doggie minced at the military base cause the BoS are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm still butthurt aplenty because of that. RIP Dogmeat.
