-only 7-8gb of space to download
pros
-really fast loading times
-cool guns
-good diolog with many options and consaquenses
-really good story
-extremely great mods (ex. Frontier, XRE Cars, ect.)
-I like how there is weapon sway
-(no offense) slavery, if it was a wasteland (there would 101% be slavery
-looks like if a nuke has fallen, barren, hot, flat, dusty, basicly I just love the enviorment
-includes things that fo4 does not have like for example being able to switch from red dot
sight to AUOG (or whatever its called) sight without need of weapon workbench
-you can click the red buttons on pipboy
-vault doors are open/closeabe, not just staying open forever
-for damm sake this is the only fo4 game (not including fo1, fo2) that does not have a
storyline of finding some stupid father or a kidnapped son which is just soo boring this is
instead about a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who shot you and whatever else happens
-wasteland is a wasteland, its not safe just like in real life. One wrong turn and your d e a d
-I love the guns, my fav would have to be service rifle
-allows you to chose traits (like skilled, or kamakize)
-lets you choose perks (in my opinon) more easy
-much more consaquenses for your actions unlike fo4, in fo4 3 buttons (yes, maybe, question) all lead to yes and saying no would just not continue the storyline
-has cool factions, like NCR, brotherhood, and enclave (if they are even in the game) and finally badass Rome faction
-vertibirds fly fast and arnt crappy
cons
-maybe the worst save system I have ever seen
-be careful with mods, some will ruin the game (I spent 3 hours just fixing and editing my mod list to work which at the end it did and had 2 days and continuing of fun)
-game does not have a sprint though idc that is an ant size problem
-somewhat addicting but games that are fun do that so I mean cant say notting there
-somewhat outdated graphics, though I would still consider this my fav fallout game and idc about graphics I pefer older games like this anyway since they have an atmesphere
-not as many gun list
-notting else to say
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What I think of Fallout 4 (it will be shorter though)
pros
-huge gun list to choose from
-more voice lines
-higher graphics
-very moddable
-cool killmoves
-better thirdperson
-editable gun via workbench/craftbench
-settlement build system (though it I am sure was inspiered by Fallout New Vegas's real time settler, and wasteland defense mods)
-a lot of more characters
-very cool dlc
-good level design
-continued with lore
-power armor feels like power armor
-has dogmeat
cons
-vertibirds are trash
-minutemen are poorly done (for short: not able to command as general, preston cant move his fat ass)
-brotherhood are really weak when fighting insitute and minutemen when sole surviver gets in. I mean where did the challange go
-institute looks like recycled toilet no offence
-game is 50gb or something
-extremely long loading times like wtf
-runs poorly with no fps enchancer mod
-I mean the wasteland does not feel dangerous nor look creppy, it looks as if it was not even nuked and it does not have danger and you can just go striaght to your destonation without trouble. Glowing sea also is kinda like that, yes buffed creatures but I mean you can avoid them rather easily and glowing sea is just eh
-you cant build settlements freely (mean another location like glowing sea) which you can do in Fallout New Vegas
-finding your baby thing is just annoying, replayablity is high but story gets lame after first run
Anyway thats all
I do not think everybody plays games for story. In my opinion the game needs to have a good story and gameplay, without a good gameplay I get bored and fall asleep (like on half-life 2) without good story (or none) I just dont stay interisted. Fallout 4 I dislike mostly because the story is boring after completing the game for 2 times (To point out I only got to 99% completion in Fo4 but never finished the end idk why). Half-life 1 though has little to no story but extremely fun gameplay which kept me interisted. Half-life 2 (I heard it has good story) has good story but the gameplay for it is just not fun making me refund it 2 hours in because I almost fell asleep. Though what I respect most about Fallout New Vegas that Fo4 does not have is really good storytelling, and you have to R E A D it not hear it, and the story matches with what is happening(Unless it is glitched/bugged). Like Vault 19 (story/lore) is creepy and fits with what the notes say (I will not discusse more about V19 because no spoliers.
You can't have just one or the other, both play key roles in making a game good.
Lets be honest here neither New Vegas nor 4 has exceptional gameplay, they aren't bad by any means and I wouldn't call it serviceable either because they are better than that but they're nothing stand out, so we instead turn to writing and in terms of writing New Vegas is really well done and Fallout 4 is pretty poor.
New Vegas is great if you want Fallout game with significantly better quest structure.
Dialogue is arguably the same. Fallout New Vegas dialogue is like your wife with make up in her face. Fallout 4 dialogue is like your wife before going to sleep with no make up. It's the same face (substance) but with different cosmetics. I like them both.
Majority of people here deify and even straight up worshipping New Vegas because it's arguably merge what considered to be the best aspect of Fallout: Dialogue and Gameplay. Interplay era gameplay is good at its time, but trash in modern standard, but the dialogue is good (well, for that time anyway)--these two aspect made a really enjoyable RPG experience.
Fallout 4 is undoubtedly an upgrade in the gameplay department, we can argue all day about which game has better dialogue, but in the end of the day I think both has the same quality.
For me, I've play game with exponentially better dialogue, and any Fallout game dialogue is rather abysmal compared to one of particular game I play (Disco Elysium, the game literally has more than 1 Million words), yes, even compared to New Vegas or any Obsidian game has to offer (TOW mediocre ♥♥♥♥), so I'm not looking for dialogue depth in term of Fallout game, I'm looking for Fallout with great Post-Apocalyptic world, some RPG aspect but with real modern Gameplay/Gunplay, so Fallout 4 is on top of my list.
Of course I want to see Fallout game with great dialogue, but Dialogue alone doesn't make up an entire Fallout experience, on the other hand if a game too focused on gameplay but forgot it's RPG root, even if it's enjoyable, it's going to hard to enjoy it as an RPG.
I love New vegas quest but getting into quest is pain in the ass, Mojave Wasteland is a dessert, and thus it is empty and has no memorable place to visit apart from the strip, everything else is like any place you could visit in Fallout 3, so once you exhaust all the quests available, there are virtually nothing else meaningful you could possibly do. Fallout 4 has absolutely great Post-Apocalyptic world, but when you get into quests, sometimes you wish there are more into it than what they has given you, so I find it more enjoyable just to "live" within the world rather than progressing in the quest (which I finished eventually).
All I see is if Bethesda hires a good writer that can make a good or at least somewhat comparable with RPG that focus on narrative, then Fallout 5 will easily surpass New Vegas--since the real complain about Fallout 4 that actually not comes out from biased POV or incompetence gamer is about how Fallout 4 has too linear quest structure.
EDIT:
OP, if someone here telling you New Vegas gameplay is the same (or god forbid, "better") than Fallout 4 gameplay, they are either liar, biased or plain stupid.
If someone here telling you Fallout 4 dialogue is better than New Vegas, they are either liar, biased or plain stupid.
If someone here telling you [Fallout Game A] story is better than [Fallout Game B] story, they are opinionated.
Nothing here is fact, only preferences.
I said that idk why you typed that but okay.
FNV and FO4 does not have the best gameplay but in my opinion mods like Dust (for FNV) can up the gameplay and level of fun by 5x. I would say that mods for a game can make the game serviceable and stand out, like XRE cars are something that I dont think is in any other Fallout game, and Dust makes this somewhat creepy, but mostly challanging and fits VERY well with the envirorment and enemiess. FO4 mods also stand out but none are quite like Dust and will never be like XRE cars/Frontier/whatever the hell has workable cars with 10x better car physics that GTA IV.
The writing part I have notting to say about since that is true, though one thing that makes this game's story stand out a lot would have to be its: not trying to find your father which who cares about finding him, or trying to find a stupid kidnapped baby that after first three runs (completed FO4 story three times) I avoid the main story and move to DLC story. But I kind-of would say FNV stands out for story than FO3, FO4.
Oh and also fallout 4's talking ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.
I do not know any yechnical issues unless it would have to do with a mod
Fallout 4 was my first fallout game and i loved it a lot. However I also noticed people talking about how it is a failure of a game compared to 3 and New Vegas and so craving more fallout and curious why people think they are better, I decided to play them.
I first played fallout 3 and I wasn't impressed. It seemed bland and buggy and it made me want to rush the game, and so I did. I did next to no side content.
So next i tried New Vegas. I instantly liked it more than 3 because it wasn't so bland. The story was better and the followers were actually interesting. The world was also at least 5 times better than 3's. However I still have yet to finish New Vegas. Something always went wrong do to how modding was done back then and the game not meshing well with the laptop I had.
I did however get back to 3 for a bit. I bought the edition with all the dlc and I lightly modded the game. I actually played it through the New Vegas engine by using Tale of Two Wastelands. I was now an adult and modding was easier so I didn't really have any technical issues. And I found Myself enjoying the game more than the first time. It was still bland compared to new Vegas and 4 but I actually had fun. Part of it might be because I had more experience with how the game played because of when I played New Vegas. Also the dlcs were really fun. I especially enjoyed the pit.
So Through my journey to understand these two games, I have learned a lot. First thing I will say is that the majority of the hate for Fallout 4 is from long time fans of fallout that hate big changes. They did not want a voiced protagonist and they did not want a more dumbed down rpg systems and stories. Fallout 4 is a brilliant game in many ways, but it is very cookie cutter. There isn't a lot you can really choose in the game and they literally got rid of a great skill system which made leveling up not as rewarding and made the dialogue bland since there weren't any skill checks like (you need 55 perception to say this thing) or even (you need 70 medicine to tend to this person's injuries) And those aspects of fallout are really fun. Your skills shape who you are as a person and who you are as a person determines what actions you are able to take. And that is what Fallout 4 is missing and why so many believe New Vegas and 3 to be better.
All 3 of these games are rpgs. 3 had a decent rpg system. New Vegas improved it. And fallout 4 removed what made it great and dumbed it down. However there is one thing that will always technically make 4 the best of the 3. It's the fact that you don't need a ton of utility mods to even get the game running. The game works perfectly out of the box and is a million times more stable. So as a GAME, it is the best of the 3.
But all that really matters is if you enjoyed a game or not. There is no point in arguing with people online about which game is better or is trash. If you enjoyed it, then there you go.
The game runs like ♥♥♥♥ on newer machines, I was getting crashes every 5-10 minutes before getting the stability mods. 3 crashes before even getting to the geckos is unplayable.
