Quest marker missing.
Hello I was playing and suddenly my quest market was gone. I don't use any mods and I started a new game and it didn't show up there as well. I have verified the game files and It didn't do anything. Apart from reinstalling the game (which I'm currently doing) how do I fix this?

Installing a few stability mods quickly could prevent this in the future.

You don't need to use any of the mods under the Optional header if you don't want to.

Also take note of Steam's backup feature, which can reduce reinstall times to 3 minutes for New Vegas.

But how did I cause this or is there anyway to fix this? I have played through the game many times but sometimes it's good to have the quest marker there to help me.

Also nice guide but I would rather not install any mods.

To my knowledge here is virtually no way to tell exactly, and without mods there is no way to altogether fix or avoid it. I'm sorry I could not be more help.

The only thing I could suggest, that probably won't help, is starting a new game if it happens, then loading the old save to see if the issue persists.

I did it and it persists. I'm reinstalling the game right now. Don't worry thanks for trying to help anyway.

Reinstalled the game and it did nothing. So I guess there is nothing I can do lol.

Did you reinstall the game and try to load an old save?
Did you delete Documents/Games/FalloutNV when you uninstalled?

I was playing in windowed mode to test in when it happened. Just played in full screen and the quest marker appears now.

Yep must be a glitch with window mode or something. Luckily for me though I mainly play full screen.

Windowed mode has issues. The reason the mod OneTweak exists is to fix the windowed experience, but I respect your choice to play the game vanilla while it's still possible.

With Microsoft having removed DirectX End User Runtimes, these games may not be on Steam for much longer.

Enjoy them while you can, ladies and gentlemen. Buy your copies at GoG as soon as possible.

I was only trying windowed mode. I never normally use it but it is strange that it made the quest marker disappear. Thanks for the help mate.

No, thank you. The next time someone's quest marker disappears I have a new trick up my sleeve.
