Can you do both For the Republic and Render Unto Caesar?
:steamthis:

What do I have to do to get the "For the Republic" quest? I helped NCR multiple times and have a good relationship with them, however, I didn't get any invitation to start the quest. I already completed "Render Unto Caesar" because of Benny, deciding not to obey Caesar's command and installing the chip instead. I don't want to side with Mr. House, though.

So what I'd like to do next is get the NCR quest, make them make truce with BoS and let them win at the Dam. What should I do to make it happen? Should I just follow Yes Man's advice to get rid of Mr. House and see what happens next?

Progress in each quest adds negative reputation to whoever you aren't actively working with, except for Yes Man.

So how should I make the NCR actively work with me, then? I read somewhere that "For the Republic" can be initiated by walking in and out of the last house on the Strip, which is either NCR's embassy or Michael Angelo's office. Tried both buildings, nothing happened. The NCR just didn't contact me anywhere.

I just got the quest "Things That Go Boom". Will I get the chance to get "For the Republic" afterwards?

Didn't one contact you when you left the lucky 38?

I never followed the NCR line.

Now that you mention it, maybe they did ('twas some time ago already). But I think they just invited me to the Embassy.

Well, if I understand it correctly now, I just have to follow the quests given to me by the Embassy. So I suppose once I finish "Things That Go Boom", I might get on the path with the NCR. I guess I'll try and see.

Sorry for the confusion. I usually get even more confused by the answers I find while googling... :steamfacepalm:
