I can't equip him with any weapon at all, is it because the dmg weapon is lower than his personal .44 magnum revolver? I want to utilize his perk from the companion quest, any advice?

Yeah they will equip the best weapon, so likely the weapon you're giving him is weaker than the one he has.

Give Raul the .22 Pistol or BB air rifle if you want Raul to shred.

I tried equipped him with Trail Carbine with 48 dmg/shot and 73.8dps
obviously bigger than .44 magnum revolver with only 36 dmg/shot and 67.5 dps
(both gun stats from fnv wiki), but he still don't equipped it, is there something i missed?

He also needs ammo, did you give him any?

yes already dump the ammo type, since I mainly using energy weapon, or perhaps raul can only use magnum revolver type weapon only?

Companions can use all weapons, as long as they do more damage/DPS than their own weapon.
