How lore-friendly is power armor training?
Some games have it, others don't.

Not one bit.

You need power armour training in 4?!
You just step into a powerarmour chassis...

Original games didn't have it. that is a Bethesda creation. Then they fixed their mistake in Fallout 4. fusion cores existed, but Bethesda made them not make sense.
Fallout 4 retconned.

Its not needed because even raiders and can use power armor in Fallout 4.

Other than that, NPCs in Fallout 3 and NV (I think it's just these two, correct me if I am wrong) don't need power armor training, although this was more than likely an oversight by Bethesda.

Wasn't 3 the only one that had it?

4 introduced power cores which took away the perk requirement which was just as absurd as the perk anyway.

Honestly, I like the power armors in Fallout 4. It actually makes them a force to be reckoned with.

Yeah, mostly because companions auto equip the highest DT armour.
Though some companions make sense to have power armour training.
e.g. in New Vegas Arcade and Veronica definitely know how to wear powerarmour.

That makes me wonder, do scribes actually have the proper training to use power armor?

Elder Mcnamara is a scribe and he is one teacher of power armour training.
Also, in theory once the player knows how to use it, they can teach any companion.

Power armor training a nonsense flag they made for fallout 3, and thus got carried forward into new Vegas, but it's entirely possible to play through NV without ever finding any, and medium armors are much better than power armor, anyway.
There's no such thing as 'power armor training' in fallout. Power armor isn't magical gundam suits that can only be used by the sacred elite.

It's just armor.

And light armor is best armor, end of story.

Lore-wise, as far as I remember, it should be true... Soldiers took some training time to properly fight in power armor but game-play wise... FO and FO2 had no such mechanics.

armor of any kind isn't something just anybody can wear with no effort, especially armor as bulky as power armor. Try running around and shooting with your body encased in 200 pounds of pure metal, Protip: you can't, not without being TRAINED to use it effectively.

Power armor training isn't like being a child learning how to tie your shoes.

It's like someone working a physical job learning to get used to the weight of steel toe boots and not trip everywhere like an idiot after years of wearing tennis shoes.

That is why you use light armor.

Simple.

Easy to use.

Easy to repair thanks to jury-rigging.

Makes random crits from TF2 look like a joke.

You're a little wrong about Power Armor Training. The best example of it was probably shown in Macross Frontier where it was shown that the main problem of Power Armor is not your physical fitness but inability to precisely control Power Armor. For example, you can crush your weapon with your fist, move your legs the way it would topple Power Armor... All because your control of Power Armor is bad - after all, Power Armor has its own servos that increase power output of all your actions.
