I think we can assume they want to make it more PC or psychologically sound for younger players or people that are easily disturbed or offended by morbid stuff. Not all of us grew up watching animals being slaughtered, people being killed and tortured or maimed by accident or malice. So I guess it might be better if those who can't handle it yet or at all never see it.
This game does NOT need gore to be good, but I'll agree we tend to go overboard with the censorship.
The game contains people that have gone brain-dead feral via long term radiation poisoning from the nuclear fallout and toxic waste so I think it's implied this game world is a VERY grim world. And to the players ... if they don't start caring about this world and it's future we may live it if we don't respect science and the damage we could do and have already done.
So in a way cutting gore from this game is ... it's supposed to be a grim reality check, it's supposed to be devastating so yes in a way suggesting removing the gore from Fallout or STALKER is a bit silly, but still relevant.
also i just want my friend to be able to play the game, I play doom and don't have a problem with gore myself
NV and 4 are NO where near as grim as 3 was. One of the first locations is an elementary school full of skeletal remains from cannibalized bodies.
So I think we know what happened there. The raiders were ambushing and eating anyone that happened to stroll by, which is what would happen if people ran out of other sources of food. It's not pretty so you can understand why they avoided depicting the cannibalization of children by raiders in a video game even though there SHOULD be remains of children around there, they'll always exist.
I think it was just more for the shock value of it. It's a long abandoned building by then, no longer a school of any kind, but the relation and idea of it is ... sad. Just the VERY idea of what COULD have been or happened, the bombs fell so long ago.
It's quite amusing that people are making themselves out of this as being some kind of 'true gamer' who'd never chicken out or being disturbed over a violence in a videogame, and call out anyone who prefers otherwise as the one with no taste (or smth). This is why I love seeing fans of Fallout (particularly New Vegas) saying literally anything.
