For what?

Doesn't really matter if you're doing a full explosives build.

Only if you're going full demolition man build. Otherwise its depends on what you want to do.

If you wanna go explosives, go Annabelle or Esther!

Go big or go home! :D

Ever tried to use Mini-Nuke in interiors in close quarters? =)

IIRC 40mm requires a reload after every shot, and 25mm is semi-auto. I would probably prefer the 25mm but I have only used it in 1 file years ago.

Mercy...
25mm grenade for me. Easier to find merchants that sell it. For the record I played on hardcore mode. If you do I wouldnt recommend carrying much ammo. 25 pcs should be enough

Past a certain level many guns surpass the 25mm APW in both direct damage and DPS, even with an optimized explosives build. Hell, the .50 MG explosive round is almost a better grenade than 25mm due to its range and accuracy.

Even though Mercy is extremely powerful, if you know how to use each of the GRA Mini-Nuke variants the Little Boy and Esther are unironically more flexible in combat... assuming you have a high base DT to soak backsplash (although this really applies to all explosive weapons, especially Mercy).

As the side weapon to Energy or Gun build, I think 40 mm grenades are better, especially with Grenade Launcher (you usually need splash damage to soften group of enemies).

40mm if you don't care about collateral damage. 25mm if you do. The plasma version of 25mm has a very small blast radius. Used in the APW with the long barrel mod and Heave Ho! perk, you have a very precise explosive weapon.

25. 40 is impractical because ammo is much more scarce and you just blow yourself or allies up with em

I wouldn't say impractical. Just gotta use it in the right situation. Using Thump-Thump with the Heave Ho! perk basically turns you into a walking artillery mortar. That thing basically goes full VATS distance, so you can take out a sizeable group of enemies from very far away.

It is impossible to blow up allies since they shoot behind you in most cases.
