Glitch regarding the quest By a Campfire on the Trail

For this tutorial quest I don't think that the plants I'm supposed to retrieve ever spawned. I went to the graveyard to get the "broc flower" and I got attacked by a scorpion and then some flies and I think it might have messed up the order of things because I've been all over the cemetary and I can't find the plants there or at the schoolhouse, which is the other place I'm supposed to check.
Should I just start a new game? I don't have a save file from before the tutorial missions started, so I can't go back and re-accept the quest to see if that will jumpstart it.
I know that you supposedly can also get the two plants you need on a hill south of the campfire where Sunny's campfire is, but I'm worried those might not have spawned either. Is this a performance thing or is my game just broken?

The Xander Root are by the big decaying tree on the ground, they kinda look like dirt mounds. The broc flower are tall thin flowers with yellowish leaves, I think they're on the edge of the graveyard facing the canyon behind it. I've never heard or seen them not spawning so maybe its a mod somehow conflicting with spawning the plants?
