Why isn't my 1 missing file not validating, and why was everything okay despite this yesterday?
Yesterday I don't think my validation worked, but I thought it had. Don't think it did, but now I can barely go 10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes without ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crashing or getting an infinite ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ load screen.

Thats a Bethesda design, 1 file always fails to validate because it's generated upon launch of the game then deleted when not in use. Sometimes the game can work but often not, you need to get the stability mods, there are several threads about it already.

I struggle with mod installation. But I am just annoyed that it was fine yesterday.

Gopher does a great YouTube video series walk through on modding this game. You can follow along and install the mods you need to stabilize the game while you watch his videos.

Yes, watch a Youtube video or perhaps a guide on here, modding NV or really any Bethesda game is easy once you know what to do. You can download the community version of Nexus Mod Manager and it's literally like 3 clicks to get a mod downloaded.
Yeah whenever I randomly crash I always get 1 file failed to validate and then I crash again after awhile, it's so stupid. So might as well not verify game cache and load a new game then load my saves, instead of loading how it's supposed to work but can't thanks to the infinite loading bug.

Validating the files isn't going to do anything if nothing is wrong with them. Fallout NV doesn't run well on newer machines, it's a problem with Bethesda's outdated engine which was already outdated ten years ago when this game came out.

The only reliable way to play the game on any sort of remotely modern machine is to use stability mods, which 100% work.
