Infinite loading screen?
Every single time i open up my save file for New Vegas, it just loads infinitely, i tried giving the FalloutNV.exe administrator but when i clicked play in the launcher it boot looped so i renamed the launcher to RealFalloutNVLauncher.exe and the actual game to FalloutNVLauncher.exe and that didnt do anything. When this happens as well my pc locks up, requiring either me logging out vis Ctrl Alt Del or force rebooting. Also when this happened in windowed mode, apparently the game just crashed rather than being infinite. This is weird as ♥♥♥♥ so can someone help me with this? I just want to play New Vegas :V

Edit: No more need to answer this since it seems to be random if it does or doesnt load. I dont like modding games to fix ♥♥♥♥ like this however thanks for the help!

The workaround for this is starting a new game and after that loading your save file.

But what you really should do instead is download stability patches and mods for the game.

This page here has all the recommended ones you should get

Which one is used to fix the loading glitch? I dont plan on getting any mods to improve graphics since i usually like the original graphics for games. And also i dont know which one will give me 15 trojans or not.

Those links are all to nexusmods, which is very widely used. It should all be safe and scanned, but just run manual scans yourself after downloading if you want to be sure.

Every system is different, so the loading issue can be caused by a number of different things. You might still get it occasionally even with all of these, so you'll need to experiment. The ones I'd try first are NVSE (you'll need its scripts for some of the others), 4GB Patcher, NVAC, and Tick Fix (without getting into gameplay bugs or graphical issues, these should make the game run better and crash less). The old Heap Replacer broke, but this one's new, and I haven't tried it yet. You might also want to look at OneTweak, which lets you run the game in borderless windowed mode, which is usually more stable, and at least if it locks up you'll still be able to switch windows.

If you do still get that infinite loading bug at the front menu, though, like Heduardo said, load an earlier save, then from that save load the save you want. Things usually work normally after you do that. The bug doesn't happen all the time, but I don't know of any fixes that get rid of it entirely.

I would recommend you to install mod, since the game have plenty of bugs. If you are too lazy, you can always quicksave / save in your main file before logging off. And when you log in, dont press continue / load, you click New game. After going through the cutscene, and finish all question from doc mitchell. Get out of his house. And then load your main file. Do this every time you start the game.

I have the infinite load screen often too. I found that in windowed mode, I could at least reach the task manager and shut down without logging out or rebooting the computer. Saves time that :)

The autosave before the battle of the dam seems to be the most stable for me. If I load that up, and then press quickload it always works.

I play unmodded. I preferr it slightly flawed. Fits the theme :)

dont even need to answer his questions, just pause the game as soon as the opening cutscene is skipped and load the save file. idk why the infinite loading glitch happens to me now whether i choose continue or load. before everything was fine, then choosing continue triggered the glitch, and now even choosing load and selecting either of my save files cause the bug. i even had that glitch happen to me in-game!

Having a lot of save files can be a problem for the game, I think? Reducing the number of files in that folder (back them up elsewhere if you want) has been known to help, iirc.

but I checked and only have 4 save files though. 1 quick save, 1 auto, and then 2 backups of those.

I swear to god there should be a sticked thread for this bug

Download NVAC
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635

Download NVSE
http://www.nvse.silverlock.org/

That usually does the trick
