By and large energy guns tend to work out as below.
Plasma with its slow RoF tends to be all about the damage per shot and how many of them you can put out.
That said the plasma defender feels like it's trying to find a middle ground between the two options when fully upgraded.
Laser with it's higher RoF (and the rifles upgrade that lets you shoot two beams for the price of one trigger pull) tends to be all about that greater opportunity to land a crit.
Unless you get your hands on Pew Pew as that laser pistol does damage per shot on par with most large rifles. Only the biggest of targets fail to go down after a shot or two.
Guns is a very, very broad category of wepaons ranging from pistols to SMGs to assault rifles to sniper rifles to shotguns to a minigun.
And that's not even accounting for some of the crazier ammo options some of them have.
If sniping I tend to prefer something from the guns options. If getting stuck in at closer ranges I prefer my sci fi laser rifle. Never really used any of the shotgun style (e.g. tri-beam) energy weapon options.
Just get the basic bug fixing mods, it's fixed with those.
Like the ones Gopher mentions in his Youtube tutorial. ^^
Energy weapon with some suitable Perks can spice up the game and can nuke the sh-t up with Meltdown. Plasma is hard, Laser is fast. But gauss rifle (ycs/186) is going boom.
I like both of them equally.
but the AMMO is heavy on hardcore mode.
the 9mm SMG is also found in goodsprings and has a unique variant which with the grunt and hand loader perks SHREDS cazadores, nightstalkers and feral ghouls. Chews thru ammo though, but with Lonesome road Commisarry being available its not that big of a deal.
anyways Energy weapons are solid guns great for dealing with armor, but late game I'm probably doing ballistics except the compliance regulator. Ammo weight.
I am now past level 50 and have 100 on both, and there is no difference in actual power.
A real man or woman uses Melee or Unarmed.
Especially to beat up Deathclaws >:D
This. With the right perks you can cruise through the whole game in survival max difficulty with a fully modded laser rifle. Use Max charge for heavy armored foes and optimal charge for everything else. Grab the mf hyperbreeder at some point to get the pistol part of the laser perk.
The way laser rifle work you should build for crits, it excels at sniper and hip shooting but is an OK vats weapon when you need to go after annoying enemies (cazadores).
MF Hyperbreeder Alpha is also good against anything weaker than a fire Gecko.
And I found particularly effective against Cazadors, as it seems to have a high degree of auto aiming. :D
