5.56 revolver
This is a question to anyone who understand weapons, would a revolver chamber in 5.56 like in the game work ?

5.56 is a rifle round. A 5.56 pistol could work technically but there would be no point because the recoil and size would make it unwieldy and impractical. At best it would be a curiosity.
I mean you can get .223 Pistols and .223 and 5.56 mm are basically the same in size. Even though you can fire 5.56 mm out of a .223 chambered gun and vice versa, the 5.56 mm is loaded for high pressure (somewhere around 60k PSI, iirc) that can damage .223 chambered weapons - like they explode kind of damage.

TLDR: .223 is the civilian version of 5.56 mm and you can get .223 pistols.

Should be doable with proper weapon design to answer higher pressuer of more powerful round. Recoil could be a problem either way though...

Since revolvers need to have as many individual chambers as it carries bullets, a 5.56 revolver would be exceedingly large and heavy, very low capacity and hard to handle, or very fragile, as the considerably larger pressure would more than likely destroy the gun. 5.56 has way more power than any pistol cartridge, and revolvers are rarely chunky enough to take it. Also, long pointed bullets dont work well in revolvers, since a round blunt bullet is able to help form a seal between the barrel and chamber to minimize lost exhaust gases (i.e. flares out the front of the cylinder).

Tl;dr - a revolver chambered in a rifle/intermediate cartridge is very impractical at best and very dangerous at worst

Everyone: "a 223 revolver wouldnt work, or it would be too dangerous"

Me: "you know the 224 Hornet exists"

5.56 is a rimless cartridge by the way.

so is 9mm, but moon clips fix that problem
the actual gun itself? not without modification
the cartridge? yes, its a revolver; you can scale them to literally any ammunition
it would have a lot of unburnt powder though, so unless you use cartridges with less powder, you're burning more money than powder
