The Alien blaster is pretty powerful but has limited ammo and when you run out you can't get any more, at least without cheating or using glitches.
Blaster is a super powerful(always crit?) pistol that has no other varient with unique and limited ammo.

Can confirm. My Legion gal was recently attacked by old ladies with rolling pins. There are also a few fun ones in the DLC packs (that I won't ruin here- 2 in OWB so far).
From an RP perspective, I imagine that this particular character has Wild Wasteland due to serious mental problems resulting from 1) chem abuse, 2) blunt force trauma to the head, from constantly punching outside of her weight class, or 3) both, because no sane person would join the Legion or worship Lord Kaiser Roll unless s/he had some real issues.
The rising sun sword to vaporize enemies ... if you have enough strength and melee skills.
Makes a nice change from guns!
