Edit: nobody in the game has enough money to buy multiple bars at once.
So if you ask me. Just sell the gold bars before you leave Dead Money. It is much more of a pain to sell it outside of Dead Money then within it.
I've done a hell of a job, dropping every item on my inventory and getting all the gold bars near in the trash can near the GRA vendor. Sold 2 of them and kept going to the Lonesome Road. So far, I'm pretty rich with 30k of caps (in this DLC there's a freaking lot of those Pre-War Money, so I can keep it pretty good in caps all the time). While I still have to finish the main campaign, I wish that those gold bars just don't vanish, since the game has a lot of glitches.
The only other place that would have that much caps (if you spend them btw there) is the brotherhood of steel bunker trader near the gun range. I remember i bought a ♥♥♥♥ ton of items for alot of caps and they kept it at like 20k caps. Game never changed it just restocked on items.
The irony of the gold bars is that they're too heavy and if you can carry them all out it's harder to get rid of them. It's the main theme of dead money. You're supposed to let it go lol.
Indeed it is. But it's a game. If it was in real life, I wouldn't do that LOL
