How do I get NCR fame early on?
I need to get the safehouse in Camp McCarran, because my current "house" is a dumpster in Goodsprings that I've been dumping all my stuff in.

I cleared all the Deathclaws in Quarry Junction, because I found a forum post where someone said this:

"I find the best way to get NCR rep is to clear quarry junction. I jumped from accepted to idolized by doing that."

So I did the quest and defeated all the Deathclaws, turned in the quest, received NCR fame, and it seems my rep is still just "Accepted."

Did you try doing quests at Camp Hope? It's right down the road in front of the dino in Novac.

Not yet. I'll probably head there now.

I'm sure it's on the Wiki since you've been searching. Killing fiends (the bosses), rescuing the ranger and taking care of Helios and Nelson gets some decent points. Killing Deathclaws is not an easy thing or for low level. There are other options besides dumpsters too...in Goodsprings, might as well use Victor's Shack.

I'm quite good at beating stuff I'm not supposed to beat. Like I said, I completed the quest and received...not as much fame as I had expected.

There is also the Mojave Outpost ( bottom left, South West ) that has a few missions available. Also easy peasy.
Tiny lizard problem?

Why does everyone seem to downplay the VERY DANGEROUS DEATHCLAW INFESTATION at Quarry Junction as a joke?

In a purely metagame sense, there is so much broken pathing and geometry in that area that it is a very easy encounter to exploit. The main barrier to completing it at low levels is having enough ammo.

Yeah that makes sense. Thanks for explaining it.

Not an option, as I also want to be nice to the Legion.

(If given the option, I always prefer to stay neutral with all factions in a game. You get access to the benefits of both, et cetera.)

Not sure if you've played NV before, so spoiler tag - but if you're coming off of FO4, just be aware that the NV factions aren't as tolerant, by and large, as the FO4 factions.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

The question still remains, I need to pick up NCR fame to get to Liked, so I can move to the NCR safehouse and live there. Any good quests that don't give me Infamy with other factions? (Except the Powder Gangers which already hate me from the gunfight at Goodsprings?)

Gah, there's an easy way but it's kind of a spoiler.

Problem is due to the conflict, a lot of NCR fame stuff will directly or indirectly lose fame with the Legion.

If I recall, Guardian Peak gives NCR fame with no chance of losing Legion. Probably a lot more side quests but not a lot that do huge payouts and don't involve the conflict.

I already gave you some quests and an alternate place of several to store your stuff.
Most the NCR quests are at Camp McCarran (the fiend quest I mentioned is less fetchy then most) until you reach Vegas.

You can pick some up at Nipton, Mojove Outpost, too.
