Alternatively, go to the Deathclaw promontory east of the Cliffside Prospector Camp. Bring a bunch of Stealth Boys, and if you can sneak past the myriad of Deathclaws there, there will be some dead prospectors with Remnants Power Armor on them, the best armor in the game.

Yeah but he's unable to use said power armour until you finish either brotherhood quest line or arcade Gannon quest

If you don't want to join the BoS, either Project Nevada or More Perks adds a perk called "Autodidact" at level 14 (can't remember skill/SPECIAL requirements) that gives you power armor training.

There's lots of T45 and brotherhood of steel faction T51s scattered all over the place. Training can only be received if you do the entire quest chain for the brotherhood, OR Arcade's companion quest to recruit the Enclave remnants.

The only non-faction T51s can be found at: the brotherhood of steel merchant's inventory (once you've become a paladin), the unmarked location full of deathclaws east of the Colorado, far east from Lucky Jim's mine, the brotherhood safehouse (it's in incredibly poor condition), and as loot throughout lonesome road.

If you do Arcade's quest, you'll receive a full set of remnant power armor in full condition, but a helmet for the set can be found in silver peak mine, and the armor itself is in the same location as the T51 east of the Colorado.

Don’t forget the salvaged power armour, which doesn’t need training to use (but is the worst power armour)

There's also rocks you can climb, then pick them off with explosives. If you're in a hurry. The hard part is getting past the deathclaws at the entrance.to that canyon.
