How do you make the 1st recon beret invisible? Preferably without downloading anything, I'm actual garbage with computers.

The only thing I could think of is deleting the mesh and texture, but then it gets replaced with the giant exclamation mark that's the placeholder for missing meshes.

You could just add the effect to something else. E.g. armour piece, perk or trait.

You're going to have to at least download the GECK if you want to avoid that exclamation mark bug. Load it up, find the beret in the armor list, remove the mesh and set it to use the headband slot (otherwise you'll still get your hair changing when you equip it). Save the mod and activate it in Data Files. Done.
