Companion inventory bug

I just went inside the Silver Rush with Ed-E and Veronica, and upon exiting, their inventories had taken more space. I think when I entered the Thug at the front took our weapons, but because they're companions they just got to keep them. When we came out, he returned the weapons to us and I believe he also did that for the companions, who kept their inventory. Is there a way to fix this problem? I know there is with commands, I just don't know which ones to use
