How to obtain it?

Ive joined the NCR faction but is there a way to get the NCR recon ranger outfit (the one with the gass mask and WW2 helm) without killing them?

If you're talking about the NCR Ranger combat armor, you can find a set in the NCR safehouse, though it isn't in great condition. You can get the key by talking to Colonel Hsu (at Camp McCarran) and having a "liked" or higher reputation with the NCR.

Do you mean the Dessert Ranger Armour? Like what the Game Cover character is wearing? The only ones I know of is the one you get in Honest Hearts(Broken something cave or bear something? Idk,but it's in the valley Daniel lives in). And the set you get in Lonesome Road.

There's 2 or 3 sets of it in lonesome road, improved versions of it. Another unique version in honest hearts.

And after a certain point in the main quest those rangers will be at all of the ncr camps. From there you can do something like lure cazadores from the best next to ranger station delta and hope they kill a ranger. Or lure legion from Nelson to camp forlorn hope or something like that.

Alright,then my op stands. The first one I know you can get is in Honest Hearts. When you go to the Sorrows valley where Daniel lives (you should be directed there right after talking to Joshua) there's a rrreeeaally hard to get to cave up on the cliff's (hard because I always forget how to reach it.) I think you actually have to go through a cave right in the middle of the valley to reach the other side of the cliffs,that let you access the cave you want.

Look it up on New Vegas wikia,it has the cave name and location you want.

Or you could just mod it in,lol.

The armor doesn't really have anything to do with the ncr, you are talking about Riot gear.

Riot gear helmet, and riot armor with trench coat.

If you have the lonesome road dlc you can go from it and the normal game at any time.
You can buy the riot gear (helm and armor) for 5k caps or less from a terminal inside the missle silo.

(once you buy you can return to the mojave. can be done at any level)

The Desert Ranger combat armor[fallout.wikia.com] isn't the same as the armor on the cover[fallout.wikia.com]; it has green panes and is overall lighter than the NCR variant. The Riot Gear[fallout.wikia.com] found in Lonesome Road also isn't exactly the same, although it also looks similar. If you're looking strictly for the armor on the cover and don't want to risk getting in trouble with the NCR, OP, getting the safehouse key is the best method. Alternatively, when you're at around level 10-12 or so, NCR Veteran Rangers will start spawning, and they wear that armor, so you can sneak kill one of them.

Get liked status then talk to Colonel Hsu in Mc Carran Airport. He will give you a key to a ranger safe house with a set of:

Ranger Armor
Ranger Veteran Armor (the one you are looking for)
Heavy NCR Trooper

3. Strip the ranger naked
4. Shame the ranger by displaying the naked body in front of a crowd

You can find dead rangers around the place occasionally, probably picked off by Legion, PGs, Wildlife and such. Just strip them of their armor (and maybe the other stuff they we're carrying, if you wanted it.) and move on.

Or put the corpse legs around a neck of another ncr ranger and then get another corpse and do it again on top of the other dead corpse. Then you will have a human centipede lol!

The riot gear is armour worn by ncr guys who inhabited the divide before it exploded . It is associated with ncr, just doesn't count as faction armour.

The riot gear is armour worn by ncr guys who inhabited the divide before it exploded . It is associated with ncr, just doesn't count as faction armour.

riot gear is the armor ncr rangers wear.
the ncr didn't invent riot gear.

One thing that i do not agree with fallout new vegas is you can't play after beating the game. Kinda disspointing really for a great game.
