Fallout Marine Armor

In Honest Hearts you can find the Desert Ranger Combat Armor used by Randall Clark and before him a marine R.B Vickers. In Fallout 4 with Far Harbor you can find marine assault armor. Now what I'm trying to figure out is what was the standard issue marine armor? Now they may be for different purposes but there is a recon marine armor and an assault version of the marine armor. If one was for assaults and the other for recon what was the Desert Ranger Armor used for? Also I don't think it was based off of environment because the armor was also used in combat at Shanghai. Thanks.

Fallout 4 has little relation with actual fallout.

The desert ranger armor was worn by a specialist fighting in the Chinese deserts before power armor made its first appearance.

But the amor belonged to
Marine Sergeant so it probably I wasn't that special and not everyone had power armor.

Edit: I do agree that Fallout 4 has little to do with lore. Bethesda done messed up lore.
