The monorail
Now a little 'time ago I failed the quest of the bomb on the monorail, which then exploded and therefore it was no longer possible to use it. I honestly did not understand why there was no way to get on the train and defuse the bomb, but now it's history .... It does not seem to me that the monorail does or does not influence the succession of events but I ask: there is a way to make it work again? Many NPCs pronounce the phrase "our boys have repaired the monorail!". I'd like to satisfy them :steamhappy:

All it does is "Set VStoryEventMonorailDestroyed to 2" which enables these lines...
"Our guys put the Monorail back to work!"
"Seems the destruction of the monorail didn't slow the NCR down much. How many troops do they have?"

The only way to repair the monorail is to reload an save from before the monorail blew and try again. It sounds like you spoke to Captain Curtis at some point during the quest, which you shouldn't do if you want to keep the monorail intact (you'll find out why during the quest itself). After discovering the spy, head DIRECTLY for the monorail to disarm the bomb; ignore everything else. You can confront the spy and still have enough time, but it's quicker to skip that.

Howdy Squalo,
Listen to the wisdom of Obi Wan Valden... :steamhappy:

Also, make sure you know the path to the monorail, run really fast, in the monorail door, hard left and behind the vent in the bulkhead. (But I'm sure you knew that already)

I failed the first time now I nail the l'il sucker every go... good luck.
Cheers,
T

The reason you couldn't get on the monorail is you decided to report to the commander guy instead of running straight to the monorail. They make it so have choice to stop him or warn ncr guy about the traitor, if you do the latter, you don't have enough time to defuse the bomb

You can confront the spy you just can't report it to the Col, run straight to the train

Thanks to everyone, but it is not really the answer I was looking for. Maybe I explained myself wrong. Try again! It is not the way the quest is done, my monorail exploded a long time ago, there is the smoking carcass on the rail in fact. I'm too far in the game to be able to do the quest again, in fact it seems to me that some NPCs related to the quest are dead so I can not go back. I just wanted to know if there is a way to "repair" the monorail. Something similar to the "Resurrect" to bring NPCs back to life. I ask this because once they suggested a command to re-do the Boone quest and it worked

Im pretty sure after a while, the monorail gets repaired. Unless Im thinking of a mod.

Ah understood! You're saying that the game should do it alone. Well at this point I imagine that in my Fallout there must be a bug. It is at least two months that the monorail is on fire ...... Well patience. I don't know: maybe the mods that I entered have made a bit 'of mess. Honestly I do not think I can solve the problem, for example to put the mod I asked for help to various friends who can do it, doing alone would definitely have damaged the game. Ok white flag! I will enter the Strip on foot as I always do. Thanks a lot!!

I've never seen the monorail repaired in my playthroughs. Even months later

It's like I said earlier, the only actual way to repair the monorail is to reload an earlier save. AFAIK, it's handled just like the way that Skyrim handles the deaths of named NPCs. In other words, the monorail's destruction triggers specific game scripts that can't be undone, and it's not supposed to be repaired after that. If I'm right and that IS indeed what happens, then any console command to undo that has the potential to be a profoundly BAD idea. OP, I hate to say it, but at this point, it would be better if you take a page out of Queen Elsa's book and just "let it go".

I spoke to Curtis during my initial time there when the quest started and went off doing a whole slew of other things in the meant time for what ever reason. I came back and it seemed about the right time of night/morning so I decided to see if I could find out who was doing what in the tower. Apparently it was Captain Curtis.

After already witnessing the monorail explosion after I or my companion killed him the first time, trying to avert it now on a redo by going straight to the monorail nothing happens. I believe I can even take the monorail back and forth to the strip with no problems, but I can not walk inside the monorail, only get in front of the door and press E to automatically ride it. Only after talking to Hsu will it trigger the event of the explosive charge. Is there any way to ensure the monorail does not get blown up? There is no way to go back to not telling Curtis anything from an earlier save as that was a long time ago.

You'll have to use the set.stage console command. You can find the quest stages on the relevant wiki page.

That sucks. Wasn't going to be a Ranger this play through anyway. To hell with them then.
