My love hate relationship with Fallout New California
Ok so the beginning of the game was great. I probably spent too much time in the beginning as a Jock running around here and there in the prologue....... maybe because the Jenny quest is bugged and I really wanted her as a companion later.

It's very well voiced... fun.....

O.o... it crashes nearly every 5 bloody minutes. Walking along the road... crash. But the main culprit is fast travel. Hey maybe they wanted to pull a morrowind.. no fast travel

Yeah.. I followed the instructional videos and the readme and website directions. Its installed on my secondary HDD(maybe that's a problem..)

I've read the rumors and such, that maybe the main character is also the courier from NV works for me. I'm finally at the point to Destroy Fort Daggerpoint thank God finally. But with a crash to desktop every 5 minutes up to every 30 minutes I'm getting to my straining point.

I really want to finish it all myself and then transfer it all to a usb stick and put it in a box and mail that box to myself and then SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!!

But the frickin crashes omg the crashes. Sometimes I have to shut my computer off foracably.

Is it Windows 10 + New Vegas? = bend over and spread them. Or I'm hoping for a hail mary pass here. Is it merely just the mod is currently toxic and when I finish it or stick dynamite in my computer because I cant finished it and install a clean New Vegas on my laptop is New Vegas this buggy itself?

Dont tell me I need to visit fallout 4 to get my post apocalyptic kicks

Are you using NVSR? It's broken on Win10 and needs some extra tweaks, otherwise it'll cause crashes.

I don't know..I run it on windows 10 and it crashes a lot less..say every 2,5 hours or 3 hours or so. So I have a lot of play sessions without any crash at all. It's not enough to be really bothered by for me on my systyem.

Could easily be caused by other mods you have. I had similar problems when I first installed New California. So I uninstalled all mods and completely uninstalled FNV. Then I reinstalled FNV, 4GB patch, NVSE, and New California.

After running New California for a little while to check stability I only added a few other mods. Solid project (mostly for the sprint ability), Mod configuration menu, Perk per level, JIP LN NVSE Plugin, and Infinite companion ammo. I didn't feel NVAC was needed since the clean install fixed most of the crashes.

After the clean install and then adding those few mods, crashes are much, much less frequent. They happen once in awhile but now I can usually play for 2-3 hours with only the occasional crash.

Glad I took the time to do the clean install because New California is pretty good.

Yeah Im running NVSR, MCM the 4gb patch and NVAC, Its a clean install, I installed FNV specifically to try New California so other than the websites approved mods Im running Vanilla FNV

Ive tried using the New California loading screen and selected the FNV start and I can play regular New Vegas for hours on end without crashing, It just doesnt like it when I quit the game, I suspect if I uninstall New California that might go away.

I tried loading my New California save tonight......... and crashed 10 minutes into the game, then I crashed again 20 minutes later when entering daggerpoint

Theres a few spots on the map that are a guarenteed crash around 50% of the time anywhere near the tunnel exit from vault 18, that first clinic you come upon. Any of the Y junctions in the road and definatly fast travel, every time I get onto the vertabird to attack fort daggerpoint Im greeted with my desktop except for the rare occasion.. but then upon entering daggerpoint CTD

Maybe a clean reinstall is the answer, I downloaded the torrent version.... and I know that occasionally with torrents a stray file can go missing which might be the cause of my crashes. my internet connection is not stable enough for large files.

Maybe Ill try again some day after a later update for New California when its out of beta phase and when I have a better internet situation

Oh, when I said broken on Win10 I meant NVSR, not New Vegas. You need to tweak the nvsr .ini or install it altogether, otherwise the game will crash all the time. New Vegas runs just fine on Win10 in my experience, or at least as well as this game can run without any fanpatches.

Have you tried uninstalling NVSR and then running the game?

Unfortunately I've always had stability issues with Fallout NV. I think it was made during the transition period from Windows XP to Windows Vista and didn't fare well.

This may or may not help, use it to replace NVSR

XP seemed to be friendly with every game, then vista came along and... windows 7 seemed a bit more stable, now Windows 10 bends you over the table with each new update. How soon until we're paying 5.99 a month for Windows 11?

Silt strider, boats, and most importantly Divine Intervention and Almsivi Intervention and Mark/Recall. Anyone who says Morrowind doesn't have fast travel is a moron.

Its a different form of fast travel, its not the point and click gimic the new generation is used to, Ive introduced older games to friends and family and they're well lets say morons about it, very much annoyed that you cant travel to places you haven't been to before, or the ever popular "seriously I have to pay to travel?!?"

Morrowind is a game that most of today's generation cannot fathom, dieing immediatly in the cave in seyda neen, encountering creatures that are much higher leveled than you are, different spell classes, the fact that you cant pour skill points into every single class and survive.

My brothers wanted to play the NES games on my nintendo switch, but soon they were very angry and blamed me for choosing the hardest games and then proceded to throw a fit over it.

The games I chose were Mario Bros titles, Super Mario 3, The Legend of Zelda.
