Also, the game opens up a LOT once your hit the strip. Stick with it a bit longer.
Dude, you're gonna get eaten alive here comparing FO4 to NV. These fanboys are rabid.
New Vegas everything is stat based. The Karma system is a joke. It's the reputation system you need to pay attention to.
Also, there are multiple ways to achieve something at certain points, so look for that.
Just remember, when you aim that .50 caliber anti material rifle, with explosive rounds loaded in it perfectly at someone's head, it's not going to kill them if you don't have the stats required, because that's the kind of game this is.
It's not FPS leaning, it's RPG leaning.
That means its all about telling you ways you can't do something, not about offering ways to do them.
If your stat isn't high enough in said skill, you're denied content. The idea is that you're not supposed to finish all the content in one play through.
i came there really early in the game i guess
i think i dont like the stats based concept. i would rather just find good weapons instead of farming levels for one skill.
btw i dont want to be eaten alive
i bought all the DLC with the game. so right after the i defended Goodsprings i started a quest and i had no idea that it was doing a DLC quest, so when i was like lvl 3 i headed for the the Brotherhood bunker thing, 1,5 struggling hours later i found out it was a quest for a DLC.
i did find a new sherrif for Primm and i did the quest in Builders town. those are i think the only quests i did
Heya brampie, I hear ya but from the other side of the fence... I have over 2000 hours in New Vegas and still loving it. I came to New Vegas way before I got FO4 and, to be honest, I'm having a hard time getting to grips with many aspects of FO4... haven't got many hours in yet though.
Give it some time, you may have to re-start several times (like me and everyone else) but it's well worth it.
To me the two are very different and I play them as different games.
One thing you can do is look up a walk-through for New Vegas and try following that along for a few hours to get the feel of it.
Cheers,
T
Unlike Fallout 4, New Vegas is an actual RPG.
Sure the game is quite old, but there are mods to remedy that somewhat.
Heres a few tips that can help you:
1. Ignore the karma system. It doesnt matter in this game and its just a relic from Fallout 3, the reputation system is what matters and it determines your standing with the various factions around the Mojave.
2. Weapon stats matter, but not to the extent that Mathius says. Automatic weapons or weapons with generally high dps will benefit the most from stat investment, but high power, single fire weapons like anti-material rifle absolutely will kill plenty of npcs and creatures even with minimal investment.
3. Money is power in New Vegas. In fact some would argue that money in this game is more important than stats for the reasons mentioned above. Thankfully compared to Fallout 3 and 4, New Vegas is pretty generous about how much money you can get just from picking up weapons from enemies you kill and selling them or doing quest where your paid.
4.Try to do some more exploring. New Vegas has locations that can provide you with unexpected boons if you just look around wither it be in the form of unique loot, finding quest lines or even interesting lore.
5. Lastly, if you want a good companion early on to take some of the heat off you, your options are Boone in the town of Novac and ED-E in Primm should you find some scrap metal, scrap electronics and two sensor modules(all of which are pretty easy to find in Novac).
Ok thanks, i will stick to it a little longer.
Ok thank you, i will try it
New Vegas rewards exploration with supplies and gear, quests and lore. You'll be able to make a very good amount of caps just by selling anything you find that you don't want to keep for yourself. The perk system isn't all that far off from how Fallout 4 would, just pick perks that will make your life easier, and focus on perks for weapons you want to use, but keep in mind Fallout NV level is capped at 50, unlike 4 where it's cap is ridiculous. That being said you don't really need to have a full focus for a build, or even a build to begin with really.
no idea what they were thinking making all the enemies just the previous enemies with more HP, and all the guns just the previous guns with more modifications. maybe they were trying for borderlands, maybe they weren't trying.
fallout 4 you spend about half your time working settlements and half your time collecting collectables. and only a small part on the actual game.
settlement system, it was bad. collecting collectables, a game for 4 year olds.
would have preferred if there was instead more of an actual GAME and not all this garbage makework they give you instead.
perhaps instead of new vegas you should have purchased a book of word finds and a box of legos.
Fallout 4 is an objectively bad game. people agree when they reused it for new vegas its a bad game.
76 is just fallout 4, again, with a multiplayer mod. people who like fallout 4 are running a metric ton of mods to make it not a bad game. Dont believe 76 can take mods so everyone hates it.
